Sure must be nice. He's not under contract for next year, is he? Quote

He was 75-80 with a 4.28 ERA, a 103 ERA+, zero postseason appearances, and one fourth-place Cy Young vote in eight seasons with the team. No further comment. Big day for RedTeamGo! 1 Quote

kdog Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Flaherty has to eat this and give them a few more innings. They need to save their bullpen for tomorrow. Guessing he's out of the rotation in the next turn...they have an off day and can do an opener. Quote
GalagaGuy Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago My bad, I forget what year it was. Hooray, the bad man can't hurt us after this year! 🥳 Quote

gehringer_2 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago so jack was giving up too many walks but not so much hard contact, now he's still at 1BB/IP and 3 long balls in 2 IP. So for his next start we get what?: walks, HRs and maybe wild pitches too? 🤷♂️ Quote
IdahoBert Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I ducked out thinking “it might get better…” But it hasn’t. Man, this is disappointing stuff. Quote

gehringer_2 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) yeah - he misses too much, but he still has a beautiful classic swing. And he swung at the 1st pitch - which I've always though he should do more of. Edited 1 hour ago by gehringer_2 Quote
lordstanley Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago The Tigers can still come back. A 4-run deficit is nothing. Quote

That’s true, but also, and I know this is an unpopular opinion, but this is only his first abjectly awful start. He’s been below average within an acceptable range when bad, and fairly decent when good. This one start will not cost him his slot in the rotation. Quote

The big issue is BB. nobody stays in the majors long at a rate of 22 BB in 25 IP. He either gets that under control quickly or the Tigers have a very expensive water boy on the staff - or of course more likely on some excuse to the DL. Quote

Yes, but even with his walks, which are the most of any starter this year, I seriously doubt it’s going to be enough to cost him his rotation slot already. I think he would need at least one more bad start like this to lose it. Edited 19 minutes ago by chasfh Quote
