Not only is Flaherty making 25 million this season, no matter how bad he is, he gets to suck up another 20 million next year simply by refusing to quit.  Sure must be nice.

He's not under contract for next year, is he?

Aaron Harang was inducted into the Reds Hall of Fame tonight.  He was 75-80 with a 4.28 ERA, a 103 ERA+, zero postseason appearances, and one fourth-place Cy Young vote in eight seasons with the team.

No further comment.

Big day for RedTeamGo!

no,  last year was the year he got 25 million.  This is the year he is sucking up another 20 million...so far.

Flaherty has to eat this and give them a few more innings. They need to save their bullpen for tomorrow. Guessing he's out of the rotation in the next turn...they have an off day and can do an opener.

Bet he’s not.

so jack was giving up too many walks but not so much hard contact, now he's still at 1BB/IP and 3 long balls in 2 IP. So for his next start we get what?: walks, HRs and maybe wild pitches too? 🤷‍♂️

yeah - he misses too much, but he still has a beautiful classic swing.

And he swung at the 1st pitch - which I've always though he should do more of.

I was blessedly unaware of this until just now…

Yeah, I kind of wish I would have missed it as it has totally taken my attention away from sports, especially the NHL.

Not a lot of options are there? if they don't come back today they will have lost 4 of Jack's 6 starts.

That’s true, but also, and I know this is an unpopular opinion, but this is only his first abjectly awful start. He’s been below average within an acceptable range when bad, and fairly decent when good. This one start will not cost him his slot in the rotation.

The big issue is BB. nobody stays in the majors long at a rate of 22 BB in 25 IP. He either gets that under control quickly or the Tigers have a very expensive water boy on the staff - or of course more likely on some excuse to the DL.

Yes, but even with his walks, which are the most of any starter this year, I seriously doubt it’s going to be enough to cost him his rotation slot already. This was his first horrific start this year. I think he would need at least one more start like this to lose it.
