One nice thing if Detroit does win game 7 is they don't have to travel for game #1 - a slightly overlooked thing because one doesn't expect a 1 seed to have back to back 7-game series. The Pistons certainly would like some more time off but being home does help. And maybe the Knicks will be rusty game 1 for the Pistons if Detroit wins this series.

i think whatever team wins game 7 will win game 1 against the knicks.  too much time off for new york.

I doubt Detroit will ever see another 5 guys like the "Going To Work" bunch. Rip, Chauncey, Prince, Ben and Rasheed started an amazing amount of games together. They were feared all across the league. I would say they were one of the best starting 5s of all time.

Is NY rooting for Cleveland? Just for HCA? Or do they think Detroit is easier to beat? I want the Pistons to get some payback against the Knicks. But first, survive Cleveland.

new york wants cleveland.  they were 2-1 v cleveland this year and 0-3 v detroit.

ausar can guard brunson.  cleveland has no one who can guard brunson.

Timberwolves are getting blasted.  If that holds then I imagine Detroit-Cleveland will move to 8PM Sunday night.

That was a pretty great performance from everybody. I honestly thought it was a longshot for the Pistons to win this game because, one, I thought they'd be deflated after blowing Game 5 and make no mistake they blew it more than Cleveland winning it and because their role players generally disappear on the road and I was unsure if Robinson would play. Well, Robinson played well, Jenkins played his best road game of the playoffs, Duren played his best game of the playoffs by a longshot, Reed doing what he always does when he gets minutes and that's play very well and Sasser gave some good minutes as well as well as Lavert. That was the difference on a night when Cade struggled in the second half and Harris largely disappeared. It felt like regular season Pistons with the bench doing a lot of heavy lifting.

I'm very impressed with the resilience of the group but now the pressure shifts back to them in Game 7 so lets see how they handle that, they handled it pretty darn well against Orlando and I feel as long as the Pistons don't give it away which they have the propensity to do at times led by Cade that they will win this game.

in general though, this season has been a breakout for him defensively.  Watching him on that end is an absolute joy.

Yeah, not sure why he’s fallen out of the rotation.  It seems like even if that’s been the case, he deserves some sort of minutes given what he can bring as far as defense and energy.  I know finding offense can be a chore at times for the Pistons.  But sometimes you’ve got to see if the defense can lead to some offense.

I saw almost every home Barry Sanders offensive play live. I think his rookie season was the only one we didn't go to every home game, but after that we saw a lot of Barry. But I still think watching Ben play defense was my "most fun" person to watch play in a Detroit uniform in any of the major 4 teams.

 

But Ausar is a lot of fun to watch as well.

Wallace was amazing to watch because of his lack of height.  He shouldn’t have been doing what he was doing because of his height.  But he had the quick leaping ability and the strength.  You could tell he understood angles and positioning.  And that motor was constantly running, there wasn’t much quit in him at all.  I think that last part was just who he was given the path he had to take to get to the NBA.

Thompson is an athlete that we’re seeing develop into an other worldly defensive beast.  Oh, sure, he’s a basketball player, he had those chops coming into this league.  But he’s really blossomed this season.  His length and his quickness and pure athleticism (I really appreciate the ballet story).  He’s reading passing lanes when off ball and is just an absolute pain in the ass on the ball.  He’s taken a leap as a shot blocker, pun intended.  Can you imagine what his defense will be like with more experience?  And what if/when he adds some offensive tools?

I think Thompson has a chance to be a better defender than Wallace, although we’re talking different eras and different positions.  Heck, since we’re talking the Going to Work crew, is it fair to say Thompson is a combination of Wallace and Prince, but with a better skill set albeit not the strength?

Obviously it's only 13 games, but Cade is now shooting 43% from three on 7.3 attempts per game.  Not bad for a guy who's best season from three is 35% and in 6 playoff games last year shot 17% from three.

Wallace and Ausar share a lot of characteristics..they both have 7ft+ wingspans, they both had superior quickness and hops and most importantly, they both have tremendous defensive instincts.

Duren has long arms as well...he has a lot of bend too so when he decides to drive to the hoop, he's handling the ball down by his ankles..that is tough to deal with

I was a little too young to really appreciate the Bad Boys so I didn't become a fan until the Grant Hill era. He became my favorite player and I was really bummed when he left for Orlando and all we got was this no name undersized center who couldn't score. That probably has to go down as one of the best sign and trades of all times.
