Sports_Freak Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Runner on 3rd, 1 out...Colts strikes out. Runner on 3rd, 1 out...Jake strikes out. How not to win a game. Quote

Nope, but leaving a mediocre middle reliever in for a 2nd inning when you are paying 2 other fresh relievers to be high leverage guys is really ****ty managing. Hinch seems to do it a lot. Nate7474 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 I wish I knew the stat of how often we don't get the auto runner from 2nd in compared to other teams. I honestly can't remember the last time I saw us score that runner in a game I've watched, has it happened? Quote
monkeytargets39 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Imagine bunting the runner over to start extras instead of just popping out or striking out Quote

It is just absurd and stupid to wait for something bad to happen and then act like you know what should have been done. Unless you have a time machine in your closet, you have no damn idea what the road not taken would have led to. Quote

Tork homered the runner in but we needed at least 2 more runs at that point Quote

Unless you have a time machine in your closet, you have no damn idea what the road not taken would have led to. Because Drew Anderson is lights out and Jansen and Finnegan are paid substantial amounts to do the job in the high leverage innings, but Hinch is the smartest guy in the room yet again. Not sure why there are so many Hinch jock huggers. 1 Quote

But using Montero in the 9th was an obvious no brainer. I dont get it. I'm sure Hinch will have some smug stat reason. Playing some stupod odds that only a geek will understand Quote

gehringer_2 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 (edited) So two singles and a HR across 4 outs weren't enough for Hinch to take Anderson out of the game? He's just lost it. Edited July 1 by gehringer_2 Quote
Sports_Freak Posted July 1 Posted July 1 3 at bats with a runner on 3rd and 1 out. 0 runs. We deserve the loss. Quote

I don't know that I have ever seen spotrac be correct, and this is no exception... That is a list of "Active" players, so doesn't include players on the IL. It is also a ranking of CBT Salary, which isn't necessarily "highest paid." By the LRD number (which calculates deferrals differently, but is how MLB calculates payroll for payroll purposes)... Skubal $32M Baez $24M Valdez $22.702M Torres $22.025M Flaherty $20M Jansen $9M Finnegan $8.75M Verlander $7.859M Anderson $7M Mize $6.15M Bonuses get defrayed in that calculation, so if you are looking for who actually got paid what this year (deferrals and bonuses counted the year they are paid)... Since the original phrasing was "highest paid." Skubal $32M Baez $24M Torres $22.025M Flaherty $20M Valdez $17.5M Jansen $9M Finnegan $8.75M McGonigle $8M Anderson $7M Mize $6.15M Quote
