So whenever a reliever craps the bed, it's the manager's fault?

Nope, but leaving a mediocre middle reliever in for a 2nd inning when you are paying 2 other fresh relievers to be high leverage guys  is really ****ty managing.  Hinch seems to do it a lot.

I wish I knew the stat of how often we don't get the auto runner from 2nd in compared to other teams.  I honestly can't remember the last time I saw us score that runner in a game I've watched, has it happened?

Yeah because those other arms have been so clutch, right?   It is just absurd and stupid to wait for something bad to happen and then act like you know what should have been done.  Unless you have a time machine in your closet, you have no damn idea what the road not taken would have led to.

We did it the other night after Jansens meltdown vs Houston.  Tork homered the runner in but we needed at least 2 more runs at that point

Imagine bunting the runner over to start extras instead of just popping out or striking out

Missed it—did Outman at least try and bunt?

Because Drew Anderson is lights out and Jansen and Finnegan are paid substantial amounts to do the job in the high leverage innings, but Hinch is the smartest guy in the room yet again.

Not sure why there are so many Hinch jock huggers.

See?   Tell me why this manager seems so untouchable.   He's completely overrated.

Agreed. Most of the time I defend Hinch. But using Montero in the 9th was an obvious no brainer. I dont get it. I'm sure Hinch will have some smug stat reason. Playing some stupod odds that only a geek will understand

They are your 4th and 5th highest paid players.

I don't know that I have ever seen spotrac be correct, and this is no exception... That is a list of "Active" players, so doesn't include players on the IL. It is also a ranking of CBT Salary, which isn't necessarily "highest paid." By the LRD number (which calculates deferrals differently, but is how MLB calculates payroll for payroll purposes)...

  1. Skubal $32M
  2. Baez $24M
  3. Valdez $22.702M
  4. Torres $22.025M
  5. Flaherty $20M
  6. Jansen $9M
  7. Finnegan $8.75M
  8. Verlander $7.859M
  9. Anderson $7M
  10. Mize $6.15M

Bonuses get defrayed in that calculation, so if you are looking for who actually got paid what this year (deferrals and bonuses counted the year they are paid)... Since the original phrasing was "highest paid."

  1. Skubal $32M
  2. Baez $24M
  3. Torres $22.025M
  4. Flaherty $20M
  5. Valdez $17.5M
  6. Jansen $9M
  7. Finnegan $8.75M
  8. McGonigle $8M
  9. Anderson $7M
  10. Mize $6.15M

So two singles and a HR across 4 outs weren't enough for Hinch to take Anderson out of the game?  He's just lost it.

CHATgtp told him to leave Anderson in.
