Hinch has to pull him during an inning....let the fans show their love. And maybe send Harris a message? Quote

NorthWoods Posted July 29 Posted July 29 If Max Clark comes up and plays as advertised this team is going to have a tremendous young core. McGonigle Dingler Greene Lee Valencia Clark Keith Torkelson(?) Skubal(?) Melton Montero Jobe Mize(?) (?) - or what we get in return for them Quote
DTroppens Posted July 29 Posted July 29 6 minutes ago, 4hzglory said: I disagree with this part. From an organization standpoint, there is considerable value in making the playoffs and even advancing 1 round. There are considerable extra $, and the extra playoff experience for guys, especially McGonigle/Lee/Clark (who will be up at that time IMO) Jobe/Melton/etc is worth a lot too. I don't think it's a World Series or failure at all. I do think heading into the playoffs with Skubal and a 3-4 man rotation depending on the series, potentially even makes us favorites to get to the World Series though. That's fine but let's say the team loses in the Wild Card round. Most of the young players already have playoff experience minus McGonigle. It will help Lee but adding Clark to that list when he's not even up right now is probably premature. He'd have to be on the team before Sept. 1. Is there talk about him coming up soon? I don't listen to the radio as much as I should and maybe I'm not on top of something here. But, off the top of my head maybe he gets added Sept. 1 or after the MudHens' season. I don't think he'd be eligible. Maybe he can sit in the dugout, but he's not playing. Even Melton and Jobe have played in the postseason before. And again, Jobe isn't even on the roster right now. He probably will get there, but he's not right now. Would it help to get them more experience? Yes, but it's not like they haven't played in the postseason, and both have in the last two seasons. That added experience is a tough trade-off to say "Losing Skubal for nothing" was still worth it if the team loses in the WC or divisional series. I do agree that using a four-man rotation helps the Tigers and Skubal can play a huge role in that. But you don't keep him for that just to make it to the ALCS or win a Wild Card round when he contract is up at the end of the year. You do that to at least get to the World Series. If the Tigers don't do that, then it's lost assets you could've possibly gotten to help the future of this team with those young players you are talking about. Quote

It would be a shame to lose this guy, he is so freaking good! I mean, how much money is enough? Whatever the value of his next contract, his family and his children’s families will be set for life. Do it for Detroit, Tarik! Do it for us Motown Sportsters! He's not a prisoner of Boras. He wants Boras and he knows what he wants. I think part of you is just making those post for a light-hearted comment knowing it's not reality, but Skubal is an adult. He's making his decisions the way he wants to. Let's not fault his agent, who he hired. Quote
IdahoBert Posted July 29 Posted July 29 It feels like Finnegan’s been on the mound for an hour… Quote

Regarding Clark, I think it's pretty likely he comes up as soon as the date passes that he will retain rookie status for 2027. He is an upgrade over Outman, Malgeri, and Vierling now and would likely have already been up if they didn't care about burning his rookie status. Up until July, he wasn't forcing the issue with his play, but since July 1 he has been on a tear. However, it would be foolish to burn his rookie status when it's only another 2-3 weeks. Quote

NorthWoods Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Not to excuse Finnegan....but part of that is because Hinch gave Skubal 1 more batter than he should have. Quote
lordstanley Posted July 29 Posted July 29 29 pitches have been thrown with 2 outs, 13 of which have been with 2 strikes. 7-5. Quote

kdog Posted July 29 Posted July 29 (edited) The Tigers are very good with the big stuff..but are just horrific on the margins...They need to get to 85 wins and I don't see how they can get there with this mix of talent. The ceiling is pretty damn high, but they have so many leaks that the floor can collapse. Edited July 29 by kdog Quote
AlaskanTigersFan Posted July 29 Posted July 29 If the Tigers end up losing the game today, they might start selling today........ Quote
