IdahoBert Posted Tuesday at 11:03 AM Posted Tuesday at 11:03 AM We have Montero pitching and the Pirates have Braxton Ashcraft who is a pretty tough cookie. Then Wednesday it’s Jobe vs. Skenes (who isn’t what he used to be but is still no slouch). Should be two very interesting and competitive games. Quote
IdahoBert Posted Tuesday at 11:19 AM Posted Tuesday at 11:19 AM Regarding this season, I have pretty much reached Elisabeth Kübler-Ross‘ final stage of acceptance. The previous obligation to see anything less than a postseason berth as failure has been relinquished. I’m just enjoying the last bit of this ride. That series with the White Sox really sobered me up. 1 Quote

Tigermojo Posted Tuesday at 02:05 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:05 PM Detroit really needs somebody to let the Tigers get hot. Quote

IdahoBert Posted Tuesday at 05:10 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:10 PM The city of Pittsburgh gave us the film Flashdance, and for that I am eternally grateful. Quote

oblong Posted Tuesday at 05:44 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:44 PM Even better was the video from American Bandstand of Maniac. (yes, this song is on my half marathon playlist). Someone in the comments said he looked like "Fat Mac" from It's Always Sunny.... and Michael Sembello is from Philly. I just love the intensity on this and the way the band is dressed in kind of a blend of eras. Is this new age brit pop? Left over bar band? THis video is literally one of my favorite things to watch on YouTube. It brings me a lot of joy. Quote
NorthWoods Posted Tuesday at 06:15 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:15 PM Watching that drenches me in 80s feelings. 1 Quote

Yes, that one particular scene moves me quite a bit. Of course, I am a dyed-in-the-wool sentimentalist.🤩 Quote
monkeytargets39 Posted Tuesday at 09:20 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:20 PM I’m glad Javy is back, but we need to primarily be going with Torres/McGonigle/Lee in the infield 70% of the time. Quote
IdahoBert Posted Tuesday at 10:53 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:53 PM Friends of mine sold their house in Boise they bought for $80,000 20 years previously for $850,000 and moved to Pittsburgh to be closer to their daughter. They bought a spacious, fetching modernized brownstone home of some sort for cash in an extremely nice neighborhood in downtown Pittsburgh. They really love it there. She’s a nurse and he’s a baker who rides his motorbike to work every morning at 5:30 AM. He goes to PNC Park when the Padres are in town because he grew up in San Diego. Sounds like a pretty good life. 3 Quote
IdahoBert Posted Tuesday at 11:11 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:11 PM I’m glad Chuck just posted. This thread is pretty dead. I was worried I was posting in the wrong thread for a moment. I don’t expect much from Carpenter anymore, so I’m not going to break out the violins over this setback. I don’t mean to sound coarse, I’m not against the guy or anything. I just don’t expect him to ever play a full season. 1 Quote

He actually stayed somewhat healthy for a long while. Carp? Not so much. Quote
chasfh Posted Tuesday at 11:17 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:17 PM I am watching this game while I’m on a flight to Seattle. I have the perfect in-flight viewing situation between the in flight map and the game on my iPad. Quote
