I hate it when I have to hope we'd be as good as Baltimore.

That's a team I've consistently rooted against.  Other teams have always had at least one series where I wanted them to win over the other team, even the Yankees.  I got tired of the Red Sox playing the underdog card so I'd say "Screw 'em".  

Probably goes back to Ripken.

I take it back to the Earl Weaver years. They were darlings of the AL during the Yankees and Red Sox down period. Great pitching staffs.

When the All Star game was in Detroit several years ago I was sitting on a bench just outside the media festivities waiting on my wife to return from the restroom.  A little guy came and sat near me. He looked familiar. He left just as my wife showed up. It wasn't until he walked away that I realized who it was. Probably I good thing since I was a Pirate fan in the 60s and 70s.
