You can draw up great plays, intricate, brilliant plays. They may or may not work. May or may not outsmart the defense. But it still comes down to player execution.

It was an extremely difficult shot, so the shooter obviously deserves a heck of a lot of credit. But that pass. About as perfectly executed a pass as you could make. That pass was everything.

I agree, do not watch that and underappreciate the pass.

yup. Also - bench discipline in the NBA is a joke. Westbrook pretty much had his toe in play on the court in the corner the pass was thrown to. Would have served LA right if the officials had waived off the bucket.

Irving has made nearly $200M in just salary.  He has a ring.  It’s obvious he doesn’t care what others think of him, he’s going to do what he wants to do.  $500K as a penalty?  So what, cut a check, and send someone else to get on the zoom call to take the heat.  A 5 game suspension?  So what, that gives him time to hit up some birthday parties.

Going forward with this, the NBA and the Nets are just going to have to make decisions to protect themselves rather than worry about punish Irving.  Obviously there’s a bit of both elements in situations similar to this.  But it seems like Irving has the attitude about him where he is above his team, above the league, really above everybody else.

It’ll be interesting to see what the players’ union responds with.

irving is just dumb.  have people finally realized that he's a dumb guy?  he's made enough money to support him for life (assuming he wont blow it all because, as noted, he's dumb), so who cares?

the nets will be better off without him.  so will the league.

Yeah, there is this issue, he's had issues prior, there will be other issues.  Earlier on, ok, the earth is flat, that's kind of funny dumb.  Several years later with all of the tread off those tires, its no longer such a charming kind of dumb.

I wish they went a bit further and told us how many missed games were due to injury.  Because last year he missed about 50 games because he wouldn't get vaccinated.  Previous seasons he missed time because he needed mental health breaks.  Some social issues were more important than basketball, etc.  I bet 80% of those missed games weren't even due to injury.
