I haven’t run Boston. I ran qualifying times in the ‘80s but never got around to it and seemed like I had endless time to do so. Then life happened and by the time I got back into marathons starting around 2009 my times had slipped and then I shifted to trails/ultras. Have to admit though, if I could qualify I would love to run Boston. My sister ran it, is glad to do it, but like tigers337’s comment the point to point nature of the course made buses as much of an effort as the run. No interest in other majors though. Chicago was worst experience of my 30 or so marathons/ultras because of having to pick through thousands of people who had placed themselves in faster corrals than they should have. In the mid-80s there used to an Emily & Pooh 10k that ended on the Tiger Stadium warning track. Did that a couple of times then sat in the bleachers in the afternoon. -

I've been a runner in the Boston area for 50 years and even I haven't run the Boston Marathon. The logistics of getting there and getting out does not sound fun. Most people I know have run it which makes it seem like not a big deal to me. I prefer the low key races. -
All together now....

Has anyone here ever ran Boston? I have not. I have no interest in 1) trying to qualify, 2) Paying mid 4-figures to buy my way in. I've run handful of "big" races like Grandma's, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, but the majors like New York, Chicago, and Boston have never been on my bucket list. Too Many people, to hard to get around before and after the race. I have several times been able to run a marathon and then take in a ball game afterwords. That makes for a great day!! -
Here we are Friday morning and the Pistons still have more than 48 hours before their first playoff game, and we still don't know their opponent. We can get rid of this play-in round anytime.

Strange, that works for me elsewhere but not here. As you can see in my post above ^^^ I pasted the link and got....the link.

Lets hope they don't take any games off of the ones they are scheduled to play. -
My guess it that the moral/spiritual angle is a part of it, just not the only or even the primary reason. I'm still curious to see if recent actions/statements by the Pope will create more interest in the Catholic Church.

Robbie Roadkill, Kegbreath, . . . Even if you didn't know about the encouragement of pestilence and the murders in international waters and the like you'd know we were doomed just by the cabinet secrataries' nicknames

I have access to Apple TV through my son. The main thing I’ve watched has been some nature documentaries, and the Foundation TV series. Something like 14 of the Tigers games this season are only going to be available from other sources such as Apple, Peacock, and God knows what else. -
This would support the hypothesis this is it’s happening due to something other than the spiritual/moral angle.

All I do is, when on X, click Copy Link from the share icon; paste it directly into the input box on MTF; and voila, it (usually) automagically converts from the link to the tweet. If you’re on X in a browser, you might be able to copy the URL in the address bar and paste it here, and get the same result.

From the female perspective: a lot of women are seeing religion used as a tool to reduce their rights in multiple ways, and to trap them into dependence on men. Most of us do not want to go back to the days of being property.
