  1. Past hour
  2. Oh, that's got to be the one and only job held by dozens of people in that regime.
  3. Frank was the one I rued letting go, although it's well known that Francisco Cordero was certainly the best piece we let go. But what's little noted nor long remembered from that trade—the biggest swing and miss by the Tigers on it—was that the best subsequent career anyone in the trade ended up having was Gregg Zaun, whom we shipped off to the Royals before he ever stepped on the field for us, and who had five solid years with the Jays during the mid-2000s. Lemondae out of lemons, though: had we kept Zaun through all those years, we may never have signed Pudge Rodriguez befpore the 2004 season. Here's Claude's overview of the trade: The Trade — November 2, 1999 Detroit sent to Texas: Francisco Cordero, Bill Haselman, Gabe Kapler, Justin Thompson, Frank Catalanotto, Alan Webb (minors) Texas sent to Detroit: Juan González, Danny Patterson, Gregg Zaun WAR Delivered Directly to Each Trade Partner Detroit received (WAR accrued while on DET): Player DET WAR Seasons Juan González 1.7 2000 only Danny Patterson 1.3 2000–2004 Gregg Zaun 0.0 Never played for DET Total 3.0 Texas received (WAR accrued while on TEX): Player TEX WAR Seasons Francisco Cordero 7.9 2000–2006 Frank Catalanotto 5.5 2000–2002, 2007–2008 Gabe Kapler 1.5 2000–2002 Bill Haselman 1.2 2000–2002 Justin Thompson -0.2 2005 only Total 16.0 Texas won the direct exchange by more than 5-to-1 (16.0 WAR vs. 3.0). Zaun — arguably Detroit's best return — never wore a Tigers uniform; he went straight to Kansas City. Total Post-Trade Career WAR by Player (All Teams) Detroit's haul: Player Total WAR Teams Gregg Zaun 14.0 KCR, HOU, COL, TOR, BAL, TBR, MIL Juan González 8.0 DET, CLE, TEX, KCR Danny Patterson 1.3 DET Total 23.2 Texas's haul: Player Total WAR Teams Francisco Cordero 12.3 TEX, MIL, CIN, TOR, HOU Frank Catalanotto 11.4 TEX, TOR, MIL, NYM Gabe Kapler 3.7 TEX, COL, BOS, MIL, TBR Bill Haselman 1.1 TEX, BOS Justin Thompson -0.2 TEX Total 28.4 WAR That Flowed to Third Parties From Detroit's players: Player Team WAR Gregg Zaun KCR 1.9 Gregg Zaun HOU -1.1 Gregg Zaun COL 0.1 Gregg Zaun TOR 8.1 Gregg Zaun BAL 2.4 Gregg Zaun TBR 1.2 Gregg Zaun MIL 1.3 Juan González CLE 4.3 Juan González TEX 2.4 Juan González KCR -0.5 From Texas's players: Player Team WAR Frank Catalanotto TOR 6.1 Frank Catalanotto MIL 0.1 Frank Catalanotto NYM -0.3 Francisco Cordero MIL 2.8 Francisco Cordero CIN 2.4 Francisco Cordero TOR -0.5 Francisco Cordero HOU -0.4 Gabe Kapler COL -0.5 Gabe Kapler BOS 0.7 Gabe Kapler MIL 1.7 Gabe Kapler TBR 0.3 Bill Haselman BOS -0.1 The single biggest beneficiary of this entire trade was Toronto, which collected 8.1 WAR from Zaun (2004–2008) and 6.1 WAR from Catalanotto (2003–2006) — 14.2 WAR total, more than either trade partner received directly. Cleveland's haul of González (4.3 WAR in 2001 alone) was more than Detroit ever got from him.
  4. I watched the 1st in total. When the second started my wife got home and we had to give my son his testosterone shot which can be an ordeal. It took the whole second quarter to get thru that when I walked out and saw the score going into halftime. “That’s it” I thought. Sat down kind of exhausted from the shot, opened a beer, and resumed texting with an old friend who lives in Denver that was watching and reached out before the game. I had intentions of putting the Tigers on but since this was on prime the remote to do tha was just enough out of reach that I didn’t want to move. Then as the lead for Orlando dwindled I stayed interested My friend said she was bailing but she apparently didn’t as she frantically texted me to put it back on. it wasn’t even just the win… it was a freaking blowout. I’m trying to position this historically. I guess that depends on tomorrow too. so chalk one up for Prime. If it were on something else I may have cut over earlier.
  5. The innate hotness that epitomized Marisa Tomei c. 1992 can hardly be denied, but it would be hard for the New York Times to come up with a more unflattering picture of her from this movie. I mean, yikes.
  6. Today
  7. As is BP. They are always the most expensive.
  8. Awful Coaching on YouTube featured this game in a video titled "The ORLANDO MAGIC coaching staff were born losers who will never win anything vs PISTONS | GAME 6" which I'm not gonna link directly, because the language is hilariously nsfw, but do check it out if you want a laugh.
  9. I was more annoyed at losing Kapler and Catalonotto, but yeah we got fleeced hard
  10. Exactly, JB should be fired for this decision alone not to mention not playing Holland one minute when nobody else on the bench isn't doing anything of note. Absolute trash coaching this series even if they win it.
  11. Traffic won’t be an issue even if the games were at the same time. 18K for the Pistons and maybe that for a Tiger game on a cold Sunday night in May. That’s less than a lions game or well attended Tiger game.
  12. No fn way they give him that contract. That's an auto Langdon firing if he gives out that contract. I wouldn't give Duren a cent over $30m/yr something like 4 years $120m max. If somebody else wants to send a max offer sheet his way you work a sign and trade immediately.
  13. Not gonna lie, I completely gave up at 60-38 then I did other things then decided to check the score again in the 4th saw 74-72 Pistons and was shocked beyond belief and watched the rest as the Pistons kept expanding the lead and was left with my jaw dropped at how this happened. What an epic comeback at least partially spurred on by historically bad shooting by Orlando. I still don't understand JB's rotations, the moment Reed came in the energy shifted and still no Holland at all which is baffling to me while his pet Levert gets minutes and does **** all with them. I don't know what they're doing to do with Duren but he's just not bringing nearly enough to justify all the minutes JB gives him. Anyway, they need to win Game 7 or else none of this matters and it's a failure of a season so they might as well just go out there and win Game 7.
  14. hope the magic go 0-23 again. that's a good formula for victory.
  15. Pistons' game 7 at 3:30. Tigers' game at 7:20. That probably works out well enough for traffic inflows and outflows? Maybe not? Whatever. Works well for my TVing. There's only one way to start this game out, right? Absolute full throttle defense leading to offense? It'd be tough to replicate that 2nd half. But if they can bring that defensive chaos back to start the game and take away the resolve from Orlando.
  16. I thought it was cash.
  17. You really want to try to get into my head?
  18. I hate the current orange bill one. If they want an alternate lid to go with the alternate shirts, bring back this one: That orange D with the white outline on the navy body with the navy lid is dope.
  19. prep on the pool image too much to believe Trump did it himself, which means it's even weirder that he has some aide working late with him just to create troll fodder.
  20. Must have been at the airport.
  21. Xfinity customers in the Detroit area cannot get ABC thru xfinity. The have no deal with scripps. It’s been awhile too.
