  2. in all the scenarios in all the world, there is nothing as fragile as a high school right handed pitcher. mayer was there for the taking and they doubled down on an 18 hear old's recent ability to spin a baseball and took jobe. it was too risky for me. we'll see how it goes. i hope he's another verlander.

  3. Comerica Park - Detroit MI TV: Bally Sports Detroit Radio: WXYT-FM (97.1) 77° and Sunny (sheer perfection) Dane Dunning (1-4 4.04 ERA) vs. Drew Hutchison (0-4 4.58 ERA) Reminder from Nick Lidstrom: There is only one "N" in Hutchison

  6. This tweet kinda hints at a problem that TORK! has had since he has come up... his swing is sweet and mechanically perfect, but against major league pitching, sometimes you have to change it up.

  9. Yes, I meant Pete Davidson. I wasn’t thinking of Pete Franklin. I was thinking of Pete Davidson and said Pete Franklin by mistake. I have basically been doing for Pete Davidson’s entire career. I blame Pete Franklin for that.

  11. rh high school pitcher? not that high in the draft in front of the best position player prospect in the draft. im in the "build through position players" camp of drafting high when team building. doesnt always work to pass on a pitcher (see verlander, justin), but its a pretty good rule of thumb. pitchers are just too injury prone (see also mize, casey; manning, matt; faedo, alex).

  13. Here is the complete list of every player who had at least two hits and two walks in his debut game, as of this morning. Not a Hall of Famer among them, but who cares. So cool to see him sprint out of the gate like this.

  14. Kinda crazy when you think about all the things that have happened in baseball in that time frame, between the expansion of the leagues, all the new ballparks, steroids, juiced ball etc. yet atleast in the AL the top HR marks remain unchanged in all that time. If you remove Maris' season then the top 4 would have been the same for 85 years now. BTW Judge is on pace to change this as last I looked I believe he's over a 60HR pace.

  15. I noticed the Tigers taking a lot fewer strike ones early in the game, swinging and getting hits instead. I'm all for making pitchers work, but don't do it by just giving them strike one! If I were pitching to the Tigers today I'd have felt pretty ambushed by their new found aggressiveness. You only get the element of surprise on a change in approach once, but I'll take it.

  16. Some crypto talk. The Plain Bagel has become my favorite YT financial channel. Actually, I believe it is the only one I watch since 99.9% of them are just trash. This guy never tells you to buy/sell and doesn't try to pump stuff. I recommend it to a lot of the younger people that work for us just getting into investing/finance.

  17. So, it seems pretty clear that Riley Greene still needs 6 more weeks to be fully ready...

  20. We are now ten full weeks into the season, so courtesy of Fangraphs, here is the Tigers' hitting performance by week-of-season. Highlighted are our MLB rank in runs scored and well as our wRC+ each week. "High"lights: The Tigers have not yet ranked higher than 20th in runs scored in any given week. Amazingly, the Tigers have never finished 30th, either—although we have finished 28th or 29th six of the ten weeks. We haven't had even one week with a wRC+ higher than 93 (average major league team for whole season = 100) Nine of ten weeks, we had a team batting average of .228 or less. Nine of ten weeks, our OBP was lower than the current MLB season OBP of .311. Our best SLG for any week is still 24 points lower than the current MLB season SLG of .392. Conclusion: we have not had even one good hitting week yet.
