Believe it or not, we are in the middle of what could end up being the worst six-year stretch in the previously-storied history of the Detroit Tigers. In the six seasons 2017 to 2022, so far, the overall record is 312-560, for a four-digit winning percentage of .3578. That is worse than even the 1998-2003 stretch, when the Tigers' record was 377-676, coming in at .3580. And unless I'm mistaken, 2022 was supposed to be in the middle of our window to contend after six years of tanking for draft picks and selling All-Stars for prospects. A team is not supposed to be challenging the 100-loss mark in Year Six of a rebuild. This organization is doing exactly that. I believe both this version of ownership and this front office are simply incompetent, and as long as both remain in place as currently constructed, I have no reasonable hope for this franchise. I'll still root for the team because I'm a native and it's still my birthright, and I will savor whatever victories they achieve along the way. But I will expect nothing but losing until changes are made at the top.2 points

should also have the courage and respect towards women to let them make their own decisions about their health and body. If he's a devout catholic so be it. He can live that life if he chooses. It's also easy for a man to talk such a way when they're not the ones facing death or physical harm. Harbaugh is sharing a thought on what someone's personal philosophy should be but that's not enough to make it into law.2 points

Yep, we all know what happened in 1944 when the allies invaded at Pas de Calais.2 points

I find it disgusting that the Catholic Church is using its power to take such a public stance against abortion after they spent the better part of 50 years covering up for their active clergy and allowing them to sexually abuse thousands of children.1 point

As an aside, it is amusing to see all the Twitter GMs who have complained so heavily about the Tigers drafting Jobe now complaining about the emphasis on college players in this year's draft.1 point

They'll get a hard throwing right-hander with control problems. He used to be top 50, but hasn't been able to put it together above A ball. Maybe Fetter can figure something out. They'll also get a toolsy 19 year old shortstop who has five walks in 500 plate appearances.1 point

I wonder if he was copying the kid in Highland Park, whose name and face were featured in news accounts in a way I thought news outlets were trying to avoid.1 point

Only thing I would say here is I would expect Turnbull to be in the rotation in 2023 as he has already began throwing from the mound. Will he be effective? Who knows but he will probably be on a inning limit. As for the other two holes Brieske will probably be one of those fillers. E-Rod's Replacement Skubal Brieske Turnbull Manning/Wentz/Faedo/Flores/Olson/Madden? As this year has taught us we can expect to probably dip into our minors to fill in some of the starts and we will probably sign someone similar to Pineda as well.1 point

IMHO You both have points. No guarantees either Tork or Kellenick are going to be a continued MLB success (though both very strong potential to do so). With said Detroit might have a shot if 1) the Mariners feel they have a real chance 'this year' and 2) they would have to add a prospect or two that Seattle values. Heck they may be ok with Daz (maybe better so far in MLB than Kellenick) and still another more highly touted prospect (at this time). From that perspective it might end up being a 3-4 for 1 and another 'lesser' player from Seattle - but this is the type of deal AA may need to pull off. The Tigs GM may need to get something done at this trade deadline. Standing pat may be just a continued disaster and 'no' attempt to improve may lead to his demise. At least a solid deal or two is an attempt to get back on track for him (staff included) and the team. Again the old baseball adages: "You can never have too much pitching" and "Everyone is looking for pitching" play into the Tigs strength with the BP. Lets see how true that is and what may take place. Perhaps...1 point

Well, if we're going to do anything, flipping relievers for good prospects would be the thing to do. But flipping relievers for the best warm body you can get at the last second? Not so much. But that's pretty much what I anticipate from yet another Al Avila Trade Deadline Bonanza-like Selloff Extravaganza. Hey, by the way, fun fact about Travis Demeritte: he got more at bats in Detroit to try to prove himself for a permanent job than Isaac Paredes got.1 point

On this score, Biden's problem is that he's old. That's it. And questions about whether we want a President who approaches 85-86 years old in his theoretical second term are fair. But people can age and have less stamina without having dementia. And it's crazy offensive when people spend so much time trivializing that condition all for political point scoring. Especially for those who have to deal with the condition within their family. And when they conflate aging with dementia, which is also wildly offensive and ageist.1 point

The bullpen can probably hold their own without Fulmer and/or Soto/Chafin, but the starting pitching concern is real. It would be nice to know if Manning/Wentz were anywhere near being available, as that would help in the whole keeping things afloat bit.1 point

Not saying he is necessarily wrong but let's face it no matter who we drafted Shep would've said it was a great pick. They could've picked me and he'd be like "He's 40 years old with a ton of message board experience so he's not some immature High School kid, he will bring a wealth of knowledge to the young tigers hitters. Great start to the draft for the Tigers!"1 point

I think most of what he does "makes sense". He correctly identifies weaknesses and tries to fix them with trades and free agents. He just hasn't been good at it! He lacks innovation and perhaps negotiation skills.1 point
