  4. If nothing else, Miggy gives this team a veteran presence, which this team doesn't have much of right now. He's not going to get many ABs in the first place, so the idea of him "taking crucial ABs away from younger guys" is a silly argument to me. In a year in which we are projected about 100 losses, Miggy should be the least of our concerns. Arguably it's the perfect year for the "farewell tour". He more than deserves it. This is his last year. This is it... Let's enjoy him fam.

  9. "Mitchell certainly fits within that “potential impact-maker” role that teams are likely to find on Day 3 of the 2022 NFL Draft. While serious injury in his senior season may cloud his projection and make his evaluation a little tricky, his scouting report reveals a talented tight end with plenty to offer." "Mitchell is an alluring prospect as a pass catcher. His tape is littered with excellent examples of his securing catches in even the toughest of situations. The Virginia Tech TE is a reliable receiver, with zero dropped receptions in the games studied. This isn’t simply the result of excellent quarterback play. He can make remarkable adjustments to the ball, even bending his 6’4″ frame down to scoop the ball up from within an inch of the turf." "Mitchell also showcases some play strength as a blocker, particularly against the run. In summation, Mitchell presents as a versatile NFL Draft tight end prospect with particularly impressive pass-catching ability. A former team captain, he plays with competitive toughness while possessing special-teams experience. That should help him carve out an NFL role while developing." https://www.profootballnetwork.com/james-mitchell-virginia-tech-te-nfl-draft-scouting-report-2022/

  10. One would think so. I've had Direct TV since 1998 or 99. I bought the sports package to get FSD so I could watch the Tigers, and paid extra for the NFL Sunday Ticket (so I'm not forced to watch the Cleveland Clowns every Sunday), but over the years DTV has gotten way too expensive so I want to drop it for something else. The something else is where it gets complicated. I have decent streaming speeds (250-350 when I check) so I have choices like Hulu or YouTubeTV, but the channels are different of course. Each package have channels I want, but also some I can't get. Sunday ticket is going to YouTube TV, but there is little information as of yet as far cost. Hulu has the ESPN+ which I use to watch basketball. This is part of a $11 sports pack. YouTube TV does not offer this, but I could still by it through ESPN. Hulu has MavTV, YouTube TV does not without the sports package. That doesn't even get to the MLB stuff that neither seem to offer, so I guess you go through MLB and buy something. So you end up with an internet cable bill, a provider bill (Hulu or YouTube TV), a sports package charge, a MLB package bill, and the NFL Sunday ticket bill. So you could have 5 different subscriptions and bills to deal with - instead of one. And it all probably changes again in 5 years. That's kind of ala carte but a long way to get there. And don't get me started on the torture of cancelling Direct TV.

  11. I know none of those details...I had it for a month or so...got rid of it because I wasn't watching as much as I thought I would. But with the Wings in the playoff hunt...I'll probably revisit it.

  16. Back in the early 80s and probably before, if you went up to the bleachers, which were maybe $1.50 a ticket, there was a fence and gate that separated you from the rest of the stadium that was manned by an usher. For slipping him as little as a dollar, he’d let you and your buddy through.

  18. I've been a fan of pro wrestling since I was a kid (don't judge me). In the pre internet days, WFAN in New York had an hour of wrestling news on at like 2AM Sundays. It was the only source of wrestling news out there that I knew of. I would often tune in on my way home form the bars/girlfriend's house. We were in a collective tizzy when the rumor that Ric Flair was in Toronto for Wrestlemania in 1990...was he leaving WCW for the WWF? Good times....

  22. I think you might have a laugh. As some have suggested, it’s not like Avila failed on every single thing he ever did bar none. They made some pretty good picks—they just didn’t know how to develop them into winners using the old school ways, in a game that long ago moved on to the new school. I mentioned John Schreiber just the other day as an example of having a talent in the fold that they simply didn’t know what to do with, so they let him go for nothing. But now that a new system run by new bosses and people is in place, I think we need to give them at least two years to see the fruits start to sprout. It’s so interesting how people who agree that the coaching we had up and down the system, especially on the hitting side, was horrific, yet still blame the players for failing under it. I think that’s short-sighted. I would bet a lot of those guys are going to rebound and, to your point, we’ll see signings and draftings under the Avila regime pay off more than that regime could figure out how to elicit.

  23. The Tigers system is awful. Pretty much every system has depth that could break through if things break right and the Tigers are no different in that regard. As of now, the Tigers don't really have any top 50 or higher talent and so they will do poorly on any ranking. That will change a bit at the end of the year with the addition of the #3 draft pick, but still a long way to go. I think the international system's lack of success is mostly tied to the Illitch family, though. I don't think any organization invests less in player development for international prospects than the Tigers have done. Their facilities are a total joke and they don't even own them. I'm hoping Harris can get Illitch to change on that front. It is about 28% of the player pool and the Tigers have been playing with one arm behind their back for a long time. In terms of Avila, I had disliked him for a long time, but the day they chose Jobe over Mayer and Lawlar broke me. Jobe is a decent prospect too and could pan out, but it is still an indefensible pick. They didn't even save money on the pick as Jobe signed for almost full slot value and for more than Mayer and Lawlar signed for with their respective clubs. In happier news, at least Jack Morris doesn't get paid anymore to announce for the team.
