  1. Five more days for me. Almost 67 and hoping SS plus some investments cover me. Both my parents lived well into their nineties.

  2. It's still early, but yeah, Rogers looks like regular material to me. I know this horse has been beaten to death, but this is where carrying Miguel hurts.... it's easy to rotate guys into and out of DH without him, much harder to with him.

  3. In general, I think the glut of catchers (of varying quality, mostly AAAA tho) is probably their exercise in caution with Rogers. But if this version of Jake Rogers (who has so far looked good on both sides) continues to play out, that is absolute best case scenario... it takes one of the bigger question mark positions on the diamond, one that has been a question mark for years, and makes it one of the strongest.

  4. Alright, so if Torkleson goes to Toledo, put Baez at 1B. That should cut down on the throwing errors. Right?

  5. I have many hobbies. Look for some guitar builds in the Hey Guitar Guys 2.0 thread later in the year. That’s just one.

  6. A while ago I had planned to retire at 62. I am now 60 and plan to go to 70. Everything has changed in the last few years - some good and some bad. The bad is that my parent's long-term care is costing me a fortune and has made me realize that you can never really have enough to retire comfortably. The good is I can now work remotely most of the time which makes work less stressful. Plus, I like my job for the most part. At this point, I'd love to be in a position where I COULD retire, but I don't mind working another 10 years.

  8. Malloy looked like a legit 3B on a play. Runner on 2nd. Grounder to his glove side. Good diving catch, pop up, and accurate side arm to 1st for the out. After he releases the ball, the camera is on him long enough that you can see him moving towards 3rd for a possible return throw. It’s just a little thing, but given there are questions about his fielding acumen at 3rd, it’s an encouraging thing.

  10. No. He needs extended time in AAA. When he proves he can hit a MLB fastball down the middle of the plate is when he deserves further consideration. I know he had a stronger collegiate career than Barry Bonds at ASU. He has yet to prove he can hit Major League pitching.

  11. Makes me laugh. You drive one of the fastest and most technologically advanced vehicles on earth. Then when your are out you ride bitch back to the garage on a moped.

  12. This should be coupled with DJT's comments at CPAC about Fetterman... Like, I know we're all beseeched to understand the appeal of this movement at all times and the reasons it has taken hold, but this is beyond any of that.... just pure, unadultered hate for the crime of dealing with an issue that affects 1 out of every 5 Americans. Equal parts cruel and out of touch.

  16. Definitely isn't a hill I'm worth dying on considering up until about 2 hours I was totally in yours, KL2 and most other people's camps about it being a waste of pick but just seeing how low the hit rate was for all players kinda made me reconsider the stance. I've now gone from thinking it was a wasted pick to being Ok with it under the right circumstances. For example taking Drew Stanton in the 2nd round when we had so many other glaring holes was not the right circumstance but if you're a team that has little holes and/or have a lot of draft capital it may turn out alright swinging for the fences.

  17. I think Hinch is all wet with his opposition to letting pitchers call their own pitches. Pitchers who cared to have have been shaking off catchers to get to what they wanted since forever. Now the clock doesn't give them the option of leading their catcher to what they want at each pitch - so doing it through reverse pitch-com seems perfectly reasonable. I don't think you will ever be able to say there is a hard and fast right answer between whether it's better for a catcher to coerce a pitcher into throwing something he has no conviction in, versus throwing what he has confidence he can execute even if it goes against the 'book' on the batter. I pay to see the players play the game, put their best against each other, not the geeks in the office.
