  1. Reminds me of a Tweet I saw the other day. Repubs like to say an armed society is a polite society. When really the truth is an armed society allows armed assholes to be assholes and everyone else has to accept it so they don’t get shot.

  3. Much more tasteful than the Ill-conceived Daisy Dukes night with the players.

  4. Did you tell them that the constitution specifically says that arms are to be well regulated?

  5. Yep, even if he made it that wasn’t a smart play down 3.

  6. That was a shrewd move masked by the Edwin trade falling apart.

  8. Double play to end it. Big day for Manning, Carpenter and Torkelson. 6.5 games back.

  9. Ty Madden has multiple family members that work in law enforcement so that's why he hasn't been called up. Too risky for Deuce.

  10. Adduci is doing back round checks on all the potential call ups, once he finishes that then they'll announce the promotions.

  11. Chapman would be great. He gets on base, hits for power and is a strong defender. The only concern is he may cost too many years for a team in the Tigers position. You'd probably be getting a couple of bad years at the end of his contract which is a risk a team can take for winning now. In the Tigers case, those two years might be when they are most likely to be winning.

  12. Like a lot of others here, I grew to really like Jim as the color guy, and I think removing the middle-3 PBP duties was instrumental in that. His strength was always playing off of the PBP announcer, and I think being limited to that role made him better at it. His greatest strength, though, was that he was genuine: what Price gave you during a broadcast felt like what you'd get if you were watching a game with him at the bar.

  13. Same. He didn't appeal to me at first. But... There was always a respect and appreciation for this. So for whatever reason that I didn't find him favorable to me early on, his honesty grew on me. He could praise and be critical. You could tell he was a Tiger fan, but he also knew when/how to voice his disdain and heartbreak. I think he grew on some of us because he was able to share his feelings as one of us. If only we had a nickel for every time we heard him mutter "oh, geez, no excuse for that platy" and then he is quiet and you wonder if he actually had to take the headset off and get up and walk away from his seat for 30 seconds. But he'd always start the game with unbridled optimism that today was the Tigers' day, no matter the circumstances. Maybe yesterday stunk, but today is a new day, let's go get 'em today. This thread should be appreciation for Price. But given what recently happened in Baltimore, let's give the Ilitch family some credit for the radio side. Mike brought back Harwell. He knew what he meant to Detroit, to MIchigan, to Tiger fans. He and Chris have allowed the radio guys the rope to be critical at times. Sure, there's a line that they have to maintain. There's a modicum of professionalism that they need to adhere to. Nobody wants to listen to constant bashing and whining and complaining. But the radio crew has been able to be pretty fair over the seasons.

  14. I think that fact that that hasn't happened after a year means that he is the GM. Tigers probably offered the job as POBO so that the title upgrade would help remove any walkaway issues for a current GM they might offer. Many/Most employment contracts have easy out clauses for promotions. Tigers will talk about it once in a while to keep the fiction alive then more nothing will happen.

  15. He's not good and he's out of options. They found a superior left-handed option on waivers last week. Not sure what more you need. His ERA was pushing 5 and periph's didn't suggest much more.

  16. At least he has not been a disaster this season - at least not since May. That's more than I thought we would get. Since May he's on a pace about .9H/game. if he plays in 25 more games out of the 47 remaining, that should get him past Beltre on the all time list. Then again, down the stretch there really isn't any reason not to play him more if he is hitting. What would they be saving him for/from?

  17. I agree on the pitching. They need to extend Erod or replace him with an equivalent talent and add another starting pitcher. The 2024 free agent class of pitchers is much better than position players and the Tigers payroll will be near the bottom of the league. No reason not to be aggressive in roster upgrades this offseason.
