  1. I never understood this mentality from fans. I couldn't care less if they beat them with or without Jones and Kelce as long as they get the W. People could put all the asterisks they want on it, doesn't mean jack to me, just be 1-0 after Week 1.

  2. I think lots of stuff is still tolerated today until they get caught. The kind of male culture you see in sports and other male dominated areas often tolerates mistreatment of women and most men are afraid to say anything about it. This can lead to violence against women.

  4. Fans: spend money good! Fans two years into a contract: why did you spend that money? We are stuck with this guy in the lineup? What a stupid move.

  5. Every time I see a post like this, I think of the part of Life of Brian where one of his 'followers' says that people must 'follow the gourd!' And as funny as that movie was, it's not what I want to picture as my government.

  7. The invitation to the Rule V party has a Roman numeral. It's been that way for years.

  9. me too. i realize he's still a positive offensive player, but if they got rid of vrana and totally tried to change zadina's game because they were reluctant to buy into the defensive system, i hardly think patrick kane would be on the top of their lists. and i doubt kane would want to come here. he can pick and choose now. he's won 3 cups already but maybe he wants another? i thought buffalo would be a target for him too. not detroit even if debrincat is here.

  10. Tork and Carpenter each slugged 9 HR's in August. Been awhile since we've had that kind of power in the middle of the line up

  11. Here is an interesting thing I noticed. It does appear as if Al Avila didn't like to claim players on waivers if it meant dropping somebody from the 40 man. Of his 18 claims, only three involved removing somebody from the roster. It is like the organizational edict was to only shop the waiver wire if there was room on the roster.

  12. I don't see #1 as petty discipline necessarily so much as it is means to the end of him falling down the depth chart that he is interpreting as punishment. Voluntarily workouts aren't meant to be hazing, they're meant to get your body into shape earlier. If three guys are all around the same talent level, and A and B went to voluntary workouts while C didn't, it would stand to reason that A and B would be further along in being prepared for the season come week one. I could see him being told he was going to be a healthy scratch simply because they saw a better chance to win with others at the position. If he was passed on the depth chart by guys like Levi and/or Benito Jones, who were at voluntary workouts, and Buggs asks why they are seen as better than him, he could be honestly told "they are working hard, they put in the extra minutes at voluntary workouts, and right here / right now, we think put us in a better position to win against Kansas City." ... To which Buggs would say, that's BS, I only wasn't there because my kid was being born.

  14. I'm hoping against hope this means we are going to see more of a trend toward historical dramas and less emphasis on superheroes and MCU and franchises, although I don't imagine that would be great for international.

  16. Over the years I become more persuaded that more batters fail because of what they don't swing at rather than what they do, especially after watching Cabrera for 10 yrs. And I think it's doubly true against good pitching. Your goal should be to never take a strike you can hit looking for a better one, you probably won't get it and now you are down in the count. It's the part of what Ted Williams said years ago that is now the most ignored part. His first admonition when you got your pitch was "Don't take it"

  17. sad day here. I will be losing my best friend when the home euthanasia service gets here in a few hours. 20 years (18 with me) is a long time for a cat, but I think we all know that it's never long enough. rest easy, bud.

  18. Maybe that’s because rock and rollers don’t spend any time in the sun and their hands are too busy with their instruments to smoke too much. 😉
