the youngest coach in d-i sports (UNC Athletics) As the college field hockey season kicks into gear, I'd like to call your attention to a fascinating story out of Chapel Hill. Last year, Erin Matson led UNC to a national championship. This year, at just 23 years old, she's the head coach. How we got here: Matson is one of the best players in the history of the sport. "The Michael Jordan of field hockey," her former coach told The Athletic ($). At 16, the Pennsylvania native became the youngest player to ever make the US national team. At UNC, she led the Tar Heels to four national titles and was named national player of the year three times. Now, she's the youngest coach in D-I sports and is leading many of her former teammates, some of whom were her roommates not too long ago. She's replacing a legend in Karen Shelton, who coached UNC for 42 years and won nine national championships. Shelton intentionally put off retirement until Matson's playing career was over. Then, she gave her the keys. Coming up: No. 2 UNC hosts No. 4 Louisville on Friday in their ACC opener.2 points

I know very little about batteries but there's a company out there named Our Next Energy (ONE) that is currently building a gigafactory in Van Buren Township that claims to double the range of current batteries and make them cheaper by using more abundant materials such as iron and magnesium instead of cobalt and nickle. Range on their standard vehicle battery pack is advertised at 600 miles.1 point

Bagley/Wiseman There are a few options. You could package one of them with Bogie (although I'm saving that honor for Killian) for a solid return. Alternatively, if you want to sell them solo you could get a 2nd rounder and/or another project player at a position of need (SF/PF). There are always teams that need a big and Bagley has shown he can put the ball in the hoop in a bench scoring role. Either player is an 'ok' to 'solid' backup big, but you can't have both of them on your team needing minutes when your starting big is also 19 years old and needs 30+ minutes a game too. That makes you do stupid things like trying to play one of them at PF next to another one of them. No. No. No. Harris I've heard a number of people say that Harris is probably washed, and I'm not sure why. Sure, he's overpaid. No, he's not a starter anymore. But that's a far cry from being outright cut by the worst team in the league. Last year was his first year back from injury on a team that was an absolute mess. He still shot 43% from three and had a 61.8% eFG. His defense is average to poor, but the defensive numbers are still better than 90% of the Pistons players from last year and it's clearly better than Bogie's. If I trade Bogie, I just need a guy who can come in and give me 18 minutes per night shooting 40% from three - he can do that. As to Livers, I need to see him stay healthy. Theoretically, he does exactly what you need from a role player - shoot and play good team defense. I like his contribution when he's on the court. Doesn't get in the way, shoots it pretty well, makes smart plays, and plays solid defense. Health is the question. Either way, Bogie is coming off the best season of his career, his usage is going down this year, and he's not a part of the future. Smart asset management means selling high. I'm ok with rolling the dice on a combination of Harris and Livers to replace most of Bogie's minutes if Ausar comes to camp looking like a "must play".1 point

It's silly to say it because you'd think it couldn't possible be an issue, but I think for starters he needs to go with a different design or maybe slightly smaller glove. I now these guys all believe to their core that that extra inch of glove is what is going to make them a gold-glover, but Tork's more common problem seems to be not being able to keep the ball in the glove once he gets the glove on the ball.1 point

I think the bigger thing right now is saving the 40 man spots for flexibility around the Rule 5 time - remember 60 day DL players need to be put back on the 40 in the offseason. And Harris has shown a desire to have flexibility to claim and then potentially pass through waivers guys as a way to build the organization. Add that to the few protections we need to make and I can easily see why he wouldn't add 2 guys now who would for sure be staying on the 40 man.1 point

They just need to find a way to keep it in the news so that their base remains engaged. As long as the typical brain dead GOP voter glances at the Fox News screen or the gateway pundit site and sees the name Hunter Biden they will be satisfied and more likely to vote.1 point

We just need to educate the crowd though. It always drives me crazy when somebody would start a "Let's Go Lions" chant when we are on offense and the offensive players would have to quiet the crowd. It's not that hard - NOISE on defense, QUIET on offense.1 point

I think if he makes a trade for a significant position player it will be a minor league trade... some blocked player that's in AA or AAA....1 point

I'm not really seeing what they think they are going to get out of Wentz. The FB is mediocre, and the breaking ball command isn't sufficient to get guys out without a better FB. I guess he doesn't have a relief profile either so he starts until they give up on him ?1 point

Don’t worry. This game is going to be a complete asshanding Lions 38 Seahawks 20 (10 points scored in garbage time)1 point

I still can’t move off the fact that Mel Is a giant idiot. There is no job in America where it’s acceptable for a leader to get into a sexual relationship with the person they hired to teach sexual harassment training. That’s a dead stop for me. Even if it was fully consensual, he’s got to know better. Leaders lose their jobs all the time for consensual relationships with subordinates or vendors. Dumb.1 point

It was a relative strength this year with Rodriguez and Lorenzen. Mize is coming back, so he can replace one of them. A full year of Skubal would help a lot too. I just don't trust Skubal/Mize/Manning to stay healthy.. I think it will be a disaster if they don't add at least one more starter.1 point

I don't have any faith that they'll get five good healthy pitchers from that crew. I hope they sign a couple of starters. I'd like to see Olson and Long as part of the depth rather than two pitchers on which they rely.1 point

The video is great. I don’t love the song but it’s better than what I expected a new Stones song to sound like now. I’m not sure why they are making new music at this point of their journey but I definitely give them props for staying creative and trying something new and still taking chances.1 point
