  1. It's been happening since The Beatles and Elvis. The difference is the fans have 24/7 access to the fandom now. In a few years, it will be someone else. Apparently the attention on her bothers some people. Ok. *shrug* It's nothing to get up in arms about and these idiots need to let people enjoy things.

  4. Every time I try to listen to any baseball podcast, the hosts spend the first 10 minutes talking about themselves and their boring lives. Nobody wants to hear that. Just jump into the content.

  5. He brought a lot of joy to us that couldn’t make it to camp. He spoiled us. Gosh, it wasn’t even game action or even practice field stuff. Photos of guys walking to/from the clubhouse were sufficient enough to remind us that baseball and warmer weather were on their way up north.

  6. I remember Del sharing a clip of the scene from the movie 21 about the Monty Hall problem and it stuck with me because I couldn't get it. I understood what they were saying and wasn't arguing that it was wrong, but it bothered that I couldn't get it because I like to think I'm kinda smart. And my research showed me lots of other people think the same way. The Monty Hall Problem being, you are given a choice of 3 doors, a prize behind 1 of them. Once you make your pick, then the host will open one of the doors that does not have a prize and offers you the chance to switch your choice? Do you? THe odds say you should. Many people, like me, thought it was still 50/50 whether you should switch. On a whim the other night I started looking at it again and then it hit me like a ton of bricks after looking at a chart that simulated every possible outcome. That just proved the math who I wasn't disputing, I was just angry I didn't see how. What helped me was to not think about it in terms of winning but instead losing and to think of it from the game show hosts perspective. You can pick any of the 3. He can only pick 2, and if you pick one of them, then he only has one choice. So 66% of the time the door he didn't open will have the prize. I was very excited when this revelation occurred to me and you all are the only ones who would appreciate it. My wife wasn't impressed. "Ok nerd...."

  7. Today bullies have a lot more tools at their disposal, like exponentially more, and the impact is exponentially broader. Back then the worst thing that could happen were isolated and contained for the most part. Now it's permanent and available for everybody to see. Think of the worst you were ever embarassed or shamed as a kid being bullied. Now imagine there's a video of it and everybody at the school saw it and shared it and laughed at it and can do that anytime they want. That's the challenges parents of younger kids face today that I, even 10 years ago, didn't face to the same degree.

  9. I met both he and his wife when I went to Lakeland. Very nice people. I also met yoda and couga down there. Not surprisingly, couga spent most of the time talking liberal politics. I mostly agreed with him, but wow here we were at a minor league game surrounded by a bunch of old white male Floridians. 😀

  12. I'm actually looking forward to Pistons games now, it's an odd feeling. I was also one of the few, I think, that liked what Weaver did at the deadline. Got rid of the old one dimensional chuckers and brought in guys that are younger, energetic and should play more of a team game. Interested to see how the pieces fit.

  14. Max knows that Max is good. Max knows that Max will be a superstar some day. Max is not signing a Colt Keith deal ahead of time. Max is already planning the big bucks free agent contract that Max knows Max will get.

  15. The acquisition of Leonard in general was surprising in that he didn't seem like "cash considerations" material. Don't want to overhype him either, just think it was a really small price to pay for a decent prospect.

  16. What made it click for me was going from 3 doors to 100 doors. If I pick one door, and the host opens 98 other ones, of course I'm going to switch to the remaining door..

  21. I am not following this case very closely, but the answer seems obvious to me. The MAGAs probably feel as if they have more to gain politically from Biden being viewed as too old and weak than it is for him to be charged with a crime. In MAGA world, being seen as weak is far worse than being a criminal.

  22. Also a moderator note here: Let's try to keep the political talk out of the sports forums. I get that a certain side is against Taylor and all of that but we don't need to bring that into this thread. Should be about the game only. Those things can snowball if people start responding and then it becomes less fun. There's a subforum for that talk.

  23. My kids only have one social media account (on Discord) where they have a group chat of their nerd friends. We don't do facebook, twitter, snapchat, tiktok or insta. In fact, when I told them they couldn't use tiktok anymore when it was taken over by the commies, there was a brief "you hate me" response but they eventually came to understand the "why".
