As long as the team still wears their current home jerseys with the "wrong" D on the front, I don't care what they wear as it's all garbage. I still cringe when I see highlights or photos with it.3 points

She transcends the age demographic... BTS has a similar appeal, drawing fans from a lot of different age groups. The key is getting the women over 35. They're the Stanley mug demo. If Swift ever puts out her own wine...she will be their God2 points

Just like Maton, McKinstry and Nevin were going to hold down third base when they let Candelario go. I am fine with them going into the season with what they have, but I'm not going to pretend that third base isn't a problem.1 point

They are a party with an interest, so there’s no reason to believe they are giving us the truth, any more than when American cops say they shot a guy because the guy lunged/shot at him. It’s fair to say you hope it’s true, and you believe it’s true, but you can’t say it’s objectively true and be taken seriously. FWIW, the mainstream American media is reporting the 30,000+ number and citing it as coming from the Gaza Ministry of Health, and I haven’t seen them routinely report a counter number from IDF. While I understand how fashionable it is say one completely distrusts the media, and that people believe it makes them look cool and smart to say they are one big vast worldwide conspiracy and they should never ever ever ever EVER be trusted, I don’t believe that’s true, and I also believe that they must be properly vetting the information enough to report it consistently and across practically all channels. Since “the United Nations and other international institutions and experts, as well as Palestinian authorities in the West Bank — rivals of Hamas — say the Gaza ministry has long made a good-faith effort to account for the dead under the most difficult conditions”, and I have found no similar description of how IDF calculates the number, I believe the 30,000+ number passes the smell test more than the IDF number.1 point

I agree, it depends. Players do like their legacies, and if they want their legacy to be about home runs, then the idea of hitching their wagon to Comerica and its low park factor for homers might be not be so appealing. Miggy tested that rule. Juan Gonzalez proved it.1 point

Really excited for a full year of Scales and Dirks... they both took the job and ran with it in 2023 IMO1 point

I agree and I disagree. OL is the engine of this teams success. They need to keep feeding it. Yes, if they mess it up, they **** up the Super Bowl chances. Jonah Jackson is very average. He had a good year in 2021 and hasn’t been at that level since. I also don’t think he’s that tough. Ragnow will play through anything and Jackson will sit at almost anything. Let’s let someone else pay him. His production should not be hard for Brad to replace and improve on.1 point

What Romney's loss proved is there was this buried Trumpism in the party that didn't accept him. He was "too establishment" before that became an official term. The populism wing. They would rather let Obama "burn it down" and rise up than let the bankers and insurance and wall street class win. Eventually that group relented with Trump so they could get their tax cuts. There's still people hanging on to hope but I just don't it. They pretend that eventually cooler heads will prevail and we can go back to the 90's with mainstream Republicans like the Good Old Days. it won't happen. Those like Heath Mayo and the Lincoln Project have good intentions but they are blind that it's over. Kevin Freaking McCarthy was too much for the crazies. The GOP is the party of Gaetz and Greene. People like Cruz and Graham saw the writing on the wall and are along for the ride. They had repeated chances to throw Trump overboard but were afraid. There is a perpetual circle jerk between the likes of Tucker and Kirk and Shapiro and that lot that will keep things moving and 40% of the voters will think that's normal because they live in a social media/RW network bubble but as long as the sane people in this country recognize that and keep voting then the republic has a shot.1 point

So they looked better in the two games with a short bench and no time for the new guys that did play to get acclimated to the Pistons?1 point

Per Kornacki and others the margins in this election are driven by the category of voter who is hyper vigilant over democracy. Yet, the other side calls themselves patriots. Maybe "Citizens" is the better term for the counter-trump voter.1 point

Different league though. I mean, I love what he's showing on tape... but we'll see what happens when he faces NFL players. He's smallish (6'0" 248 if that's accurate and not exaggerated...), so... he's on OLB'er? Pass-rush specialist? I don't see him as the bookend to Hutch because there is no possible way he's going to hold the edge against NFL tackles. But hey... any kind of pass rush help the Lions get is a plus... again, we'll just see what he does against NFL players. At his size... he seems like another James Houston (although with different technique as you can see on the tape...). A plus to Holmes for finding "things" underneath every single stone ("leave no unturned..."). We'll see if he found a little golden nugget or just some pyrite.1 point

as soon as they are no longer affiliated with the university they will no longer be relevant. no one will care. its the ties to the university that drive the love. no one cares about the usfl. which is why theyre really walking a fine line right now.1 point

I think the broadcast handled Taylor Swift well on Sunday. They showed her a lot, but Romo and Nantz rarely mentioned her. To me, not that much different than when broadcasts would frequently flash to Nicholson at Lakers game or Bill Murray during the Cubs WS run. I could do without so many crowds shots in general (for some reason I particularly hated how Fox would show the Red Sox fans with their hands in praying position pitch after pitch after pitch), but the Super Bowl has always had tons of distractions. Its' not like she was on a headpiece being interviewed by Nantz between downs in the 3rd quarter.1 point

Today bullies have a lot more tools at their disposal, like exponentially more, and the impact is exponentially broader. Back then the worst thing that could happen were isolated and contained for the most part. Now it's permanent and available for everybody to see. Think of the worst you were ever embarassed or shamed as a kid being bullied. Now imagine there's a video of it and everybody at the school saw it and shared it and laughed at it and can do that anytime they want. That's the challenges parents of younger kids face today that I, even 10 years ago, didn't face to the same degree.1 point

Couldn't agree more, especially regarding the children. It's those lil ****bird kids that deserve it the most. Those lil terrorists deserve every bomb they get given they inaccurately contemplated the geopolitical implications of other people's actions before those other people committed those actions1 point

I'm a very techy person and I'd say I'm pretty worried about how to wrangle/control all of the apps/content that my daughter can access. I think it's very reasonable argument that it shouldn't be parents' responsibility to parry a tsunami created by tech companies with immunity pursuing massive profit. If we still argue it should be parents' responsibility, I think it's very reasonable to determine how realistic that really is for an average parent.1 point

The entire album isn't out yet but there is another song I almost shared called hammer and nail. The lyrics are only well known phrases which I enjoyed, but could see some thinking it was tacky/countryish. Excited for the full album though1 point
