  2. Tigers Acquire LHP Blake Dickerson From Padres for $500K in International Draft money. He was their 12th round pick in 2023, but signed for 4th round money to pass on his commitment to Virginia Tech. BA had him as the Padres #22 prospect. He didn’t pitch for them last year—his debut will be this season.

  4. That is an interesting tactic by Harris. He was ranked #158 by pipeline for last year's draft.

  5. Watch Monty play Ivey for 12 minutes and Fournier for 32.

  6. Even better: Top 50! I have always respected Fangraphs’ top prospect list far more than MLB’s Pipeline.

  7. I think I recall one of the "perks" of Vierling at the time of his acquisition was that he could handle 1B every now and again to spell Torkelson every now and again. He played all of zero innings there last season for the Tigers. Also of note about Vierling, he has a bbref similarity of 973.3 with Skeeter Barnes. I saw Barnes ply his trade as a Mud Hen at Ned Skeldon Stadium (RIP to that track). This sentence has absolutely nothing to do with the 2024 Tiger spring training, but now you're engulfed with memories of Skeeter Barnes and/or Ned Skeldon Stadium and/or Mud Hens.

  8. By my unofficial count, that was the 131st trade involving bonus slot money since that was enabled back in 2013 (And disallowed 2021-22). The first for the Tigers.

  11. Yes but hopefully Clark turns out better and plays both sides of the ball and with the money saved we signed Monigle who is top 100 close. So 2 for 1.
