  1. The New Heatles.
  2. It all depends on the terms of the contract. Same as trading any of the current players. Its all relative. I'd hate to see them trade Greene. But if they were to be offered more value than Greene, I'll probably get it over it eventually.
  3. I don't know all of the backstory, and I'm not in a position to dispute or confirm any of that. From my perspective as a Tiger fan, I'd rather they invest the salary that he'd be looking for on other players. I'd like to see them add another arm or two for the end of the game. Lange's walk rate is too high for me.
  4. Come on, he ain't the second coming of Rivera. Pass on him and let the funds required to acquire him be allocated elsewhere.
  5. Oh man, to be at the Arby's that he rolls up to in that thing tomorrow when he goes for free curly fries......
  6. Seeing him go opposite field for the lead is nice.
  7. My worthless guess is it’s probably a bit of all of the above. As far as the video/stats/reports on players are concerned, sure, there was information available to Harris on his first day. But how much of that was relevant or how was it prioritized on day one vs how Harris wanted it to be? Just because there was preexisting information doesn’t mean it was useful or utilized correctly. I am intrigued to see what Harris and company have in store this off-season. I don’t quite know what to expect. I have my own ideas what I’d like to see, but I don’t want to project that onto what I think Harris do.
  8. I think this is true. But I believe one or the other had mentioned that they didn’t always agree with each other in the past. It’s not necessary a bad thing to have differences of opinion. It’ll be how they work through those that will matter.
  9. Jim Price is looking down and saying “beautiful”. Enjoy yourself today.
  10. They mentioned on the Bally pregame show that the batter clock has not been in use this weekend for Cabrera. I guess I never noticed that. But kudos to the Guardians and MLB for going along with it. I don’t think he was ever one of the hitters to waste time, so that is helpful as well. I noticed the other night when Greinke was pitching, he took a stroll around the mound for Cabrera’s first plate appearance. So, I wonder if the clock was used or paid attention to against Kansas City? The clock has been a good thing. But I’m glad that the other parties involved this past week are reading the room and understanding the situation.
  11. I understand wanting to bring in Hader as bullpen help. No doubt about the talent, and any team should welcome that kind of talent. However, listening to one of the national podcasts the last week or two, his name came up as maybe becoming a bit more hard to handle in the clubhouse and only wants to pitch the 9th. IF true, and I don’t know one way or the other, I wouldn’t be interested at all.

  13. I like that they had Rodriguez give a speech in Spanish. I have no idea what was said. But I think it was a fine gesture to Cabrera, his family & friends, and those in attendance and watching the game. I think Cabrera’s mother threw a better ceremonial first pitch than his father. I think I recall reading his mother had played some sort of organized softball/baseball. She really had the throwing form to prove it.

  15. Bringing up some names of yesteryear makes one think again about what kind of numerals players would have put up had they not been involved in military service. Greenberg missed, what, 4 seasons after he turned 30? And simply picked up from where he was as if he hadn't missed a beat?
  16. Well, if 1 & 2 don't happen, then I just don't know what to say about the results of the restoration or whatever they want to call it. I guess it's stalled or a lemon. 3 is going to have to happen at some point to further this along. Could the Pistons be involved transactionally in the fallout of the Lillard trade?
  17. Agree. The challenge system adds very little time. I thought there was a rule about check swings such that swinging past a line across the plate parallel to the front of the plate was a swing, but stopping before that was a check / nonswing?. Maybe there isn't such a rule. Anyway, that's the rule I was thinking of as a part of a reviewable challenge.
  18. Seems like something that could be reviewable.
  19. -1 for those that want the human element to remain.
  20. Something good came from it.
  21. Marlins' rally in 9th halted by rain as finale vs. Mets suspended Why does this matter? San Diego might be out of it due to all of the tiebreaker rules. But there are 4 teams vying for 2 wildcard spots right now. Everybody looks forward to the playoffs, but the play ins are in well under way.
  22. Francona was hired by Cleveland a season before Leyland retired. I've wondered what might have happened had the timing been lined up to where Leyland retired and Francona was available. Maybe he'd have ended up in Cleveland anyway.
  23. By the way, the Tigers are undefeated on Sundays in September.
  24. Yes. They're 76-83. They'll be at least 10 games better than last season. They've made improvements, and they still need to make more.
