I just watched the recording of this game. I had contemplated skipping it, but decided if I did, I might miss something. Some days my stubbornicity works in my favor.

LaTroy Hawkins was the last active major league players that was older than me. He pitched until he was 42. I remember thinking that I felt a bit older when he announced his retirement. A couple of days ago, I listened to the Black Diamonds podcast where he was interviewed. So after that, of course, I checked his baseball reference page. He retired after the 2015 season. Damn, do I feel old now......

My favorite giveaway was in Cleveland when they gave away Victor Martinez bobble heads. Oh,…., and this was two days after they traded him to Boston. I politely declined mine.

Yeah, so, the bike trail that runs through my 'hood is less than a 1/4 off of a decently used two lane road. Guess wear you'll find some of the spandex wearers. And just for the record, yes I wear a helmet and no I do not wear spandex.

I was in Boston this summer, north of the proper and in downtown. They had specific and dedicated bike lines along the road which were cordoned off by physical barriers in some spots and mere painted lines in other spots. The physical barriers, ok, I might be fine with that. But paint? Nah, not for me. Now, granted, I use the bike for fresh air and exercise. I'm fortunate enough to have a bike trail that rolls through my neighborhood, and even more fortunate that it connects to metro parks in either direction. I don't have to rely on it out of necessity (say work or school).

I understand the theory that "bicycles are vehicles, too" and "share the road" and yada, yada, yada. I also understand the reality that there are idiots behind the wheel and my Schwinn & helmet ain't no match for an idiot behind the wheel. Therefore, I'll just stay off of the roads as much as possible, thank you.

I suppose a shallow free agent crop helps his cause, which, hey, he should use that to his advantage if he could. Here's a thought I had yesterday. How many times has a player left a team they played for in one season and then played against them in the next season but as a member for two different teams? .375/.400/.750 vs Detroit this season. Better hope he ends up in a division far, far away?

What's his OPS since he's been a teammate of Maton? That's the real question.

I don't know the exact answer, but, take these into consideration: Its the Astros, so there might be extra attendance because of that. Its the last Saturday home game before Labor Day / football season. I think most Michigan schools start after Labor Day? That probably rolls into this. Weather looks good for Saturday. Might increase walk ups? If you go really early, there's always the carousel and ferris wheel to entertain your grandson. There's the statues and the pennant poles to check out. Take a walk around the stadium. There's stuff to do before the first pitch. It probably depends on how your grandson might take all of this in.

I saw this. My oldest loves giraffes, so I sent it to the family text. My wife said it looked like a deer. Now, I frequently see deer when I bicycle. I stop and take pictures and send them to the family text. But if I see a 7 foot tall deer, I am turning the bike around and pedaling as fast as I've ever pedaled (well, for that day anyway).

Some of these younger arms look fine one time through the lineup, but that next look is a different story. I don't know fi they need the experience with learning to pitch vs throw or maybe they are simply just relievers. Relief would be fine, especially if they can go multiple innings. But, yes, Harris is going to need to tend to the rotation.
