  1. Just by pure coin flip, not factoring in team skill sets or home/away or injuries or anything like that, a 15 game losing streak is a 1 in 32,768 proposition. Extending the party to 16 tonight would be a a in 65,536 event. The capacity for a football game at Ford Field is 65,000. So there is one chair in there (probably a duct taped folding chair in a standing room only area) that this streak sits in amongst the rest of the crowd.
  2. They can pray no one parks in their parking lot.
  3. Where do you think teams at the top and bottom line up in a competitive league? The one thing about baseball vs other sports is the game to game nature of it. You really don't know who will win any given game. The winning percentages of teams is a much more narrow range than those of the other major sports.
  4. Are there any players on the roster that play a considerable enough time that have also been a contributing factor to winning in the NBA? I don't think its a necessity, but it sure would be helpful. Burks is probably the only player on the roster with playoff time that has been healthy this season. This team is probably too young right now. I suppose a case can be made that if Bogdanovich and Morris were healthy and playing, they'd have a few more wins by now. Where is the on court leadership coming from?
  5. We were all so young and innocent back then.
  6. I can't complain when OSU doesn't make it this season. Throw fewer interceptions vs Michigan. Possess the ball a bit more vs Michigan. Don't be afraid to go for 4th & 1 at midfield. I know the theory for expansion is instead of complaining about 4 vs 5 is that it will be 11 vs 13 (assuming 12 is the group of five). But I don't think the discussion there will be as loud. Maybe the first season or two it will be, but I think that will be more because its a new format. But I think that will tamper down quickly.
  7. Yes, Yamamoto and Imanaga aren't the only pitchers that would help the club.
  8. That thin line between victory and defeat for Alabama vs Auburn is fun fodder right about now.
  9. Just kind of thinking through the rotation a bit, of the 1,400 or so innings to be pitched, what is needed by the rotation, 60%? 840 IP? 175 out of the first two spots, 150 out of the last three? That’s 800 there. 60% of a start is 16.2 outs, so it gets a team through 5 plus an out. I don’t know, maybe the 60% is a bit low. But then that means they need another upper end SP.
  10. I wouldn’t think that’s a solidified 38. There are some guys that can be jettisoned pretty easily (Nevin as a prime example).
  11. You shouldn’t assume to know what is going through Meadows’ mind. Yet here we are.
  12. Oh, ok. Guess we’ll see tomorrow.
  13. Seconded. I’m not interested in the lack of control issues.
  14. I remember George Irvine going with 6 guys for a couple of games due to locker room issues. Heck, I think they might have even been back to back games. I hope they aren’t close to that.
  15. I can see a rationale for it given the other choices. And I think this is a good example of why they need more pitching, preferably an upper rotation pitcher. Don’t get me wrong, I like him and his potential. I just think another very good 175 IP is needed.
  16. I would think Gipson-Long is easy to stash in Toledo. He had a handful of starts and looked decent, but I don’t think he’s a guy that they have to have in the rotation right now. I think Olson has earned a penciled in spot right now. If he doesn’t look good in camp, he can be sent down if needed.
  17. That’s one way to handle it. By the time the inevitable injury pops up, he might be ready for a rotation spot.
  18. Maybe I'm looking too much into it, but he's a former 2nd round pick that turns 25 in February. He has some on base chops about him and some versatility. The former is a tenant of the organization. The latter is a helpful asset. Its not earth shattering by any means, but if you're going to look to fill your minor league rosters, might as well do so with the type of player that have some of the skill sets you are looking for.
  19. By quarter, it was -8, -4, -7, and -7. At least the consistency is there.
  20. I thought it was a refurbish?
  21. They have to let things play out to see what they have. Part of the early season issues are the new coaching staff and probably too much youth / inexperience on the floor. As far as Cunningham is concerned, there's plenty of time between now and then to decide. He needs to stay healthy and play, its that simple.
  22. Filling out the Mud Hens’ roster already?
  23. Gotta laugh to keep from crying.
  24. I think he might be the better option. He won't cost as much in dollars or years. So the risk is lowered. And with the reduced salary from Imanaga vs Yamamoto, they can take that opportunity cost and apply it to other needs.
