  1. https://www.mlb.com/tigers/news/yankees-tigers-to-play-in-2024-little-league-classic I think this is pretty cool for a team on the rise.
  2. Should’of traded for Ohtani and Judge.
  3. That’s true, they did dork one up in game 2 of the Friday doubleheader.
  4. Speaking of glove work, what a highlight show today.
  5. Greene’s sliding catch had some awkward glove positioning as well. Rather than have the glove palm up, his palm was out as if high diving so to speak. He made the play, but I’m not so sure about how his glove arm was handled.
  6. I don’t know. Other OFs dealt with it today without dropping the ball. Carpenter consistently has issues around the wall whether there is sun or not. To his credit, he did have a nice play coming in on a ball to his glove side later in the game. Actually it might have been more to the side than it was in.
  7. That would be the standard procedure.
  8. Rodriguez probably has another inning in him. Going to need some more runs here before the bullpen gets involved. I already did my cardio today.
  9. Better than sugary cheerleading?
  10. As much as I’d like to see a hitting lineup with both of them, I’m not sure how this team can have both Carpenter and Malloy on it. Maybe they try it next season just to see if one of them can become adequate enough in the field? Could be a frightening experiment. Keep the children away from the game visuals.
  11. Greene at .854. What a slouch.
  12. Just when I was starting to think Carpenter’s defense might be getting better, he loses one in the sun. Or did he lose it because he was at the wall?
  13. Yes, this is absolutely it. So, going into it for next season, is there a roster fit for Carpenter and Malloy? I think with Cabrera retiring, there’s more room for a regular everyday DH. Now maybe Carpenter and Malloy split those duties while also getting defensive reps, I don’t know. Keith Law mentioned getting to the point in the season where rookie status can be protected next season and brought up Colt Keith. He wasn’t all too optimistic about Keith at 3B but also didn’t shut it down. Anyways, he thought maybe the Tigers bring him up soon as generally teams have their best defensive coaches up at the MLB level. I don’t know whether this is copy & paste for all teams or for the Tigers specifically. I guess if that’s the case, do the Tigers employ this plan? And if so, would they also consider it for Malloy? The other aspects Law brought up regarding minor leaguers being called up made sense. Teams would do it for guys they think are going to get serious burn next season. Rookies can get used to the culture at the big leagues. The competition is obviously a key factor (he mentioned the gap between the majors and minors and what a leap that can be for some guys). I think there’s merit to it. But I think there’s also consideration to just playing everyday. So, maybe it’s to Keith’s advantage to be plugging away at the hot corner in Toledo to finish out that season, and then maybe promoted to finish out the Tiger regular season. They could always bump someone like Diaz or Ibanez in lieu of bringing up a prospect.
  14. Yup, pretty amusing for those that stayed away from the bust bandwagon.
  15. Nah, the dots are clearly dots. Their country of origin is less convincing unless they’ve been vetted.
  16. The problem here is that his stat line this season is one of the best 9 on the team. Now, granted, there’s more to being an everyday player than offense. But this is populated by only 5 bats with an OPS+ of over 90. Heck, Jake Marisnick’s 87 looks like a starter amongst this band of balsa wood bats.
  17. Who decided polka dots were Polish?
  18. Oh, yeah, CHiPS was must see TV as a kid. And by must see, it was you had to be in front of the TV at the time of the show and somebody had to actually turn the dial to the right channel (1 of the only 4 or 5 channels that you could get) in order to watch it.

  22. Is it anything in particular that weighs too heavily or is it just an all around deficiency?
  23. I didn't mind it as much IF Carpenter saw the LF being lax the play. The throw was a wiffle ball out, it was actually at Carpenter rather than 3B. So, I think there was a little bit of fluke on the tag out because it was on the money when it wasn't on the money. The other thing is that these are both pretty brutal offenses but Wentz was on the mound. Advantage, Cleveland. So, Detroit had to take some risks somewhere along the line. As it turned out, they were basically shut out. Tough to assume Carpenter gets driven in from 2B with 2 out and bottom half of the lineup at the plate.
