  1. Baseball is funny sometimes. The OF has been very patchwork, which was known. Then Torres goes to the IL. But those issues are offset by unexpected boosts from McKinstry, Torkelson, and Dingler, the Tiger position players with the higher bbrf WARs on the club. By the way, remember a week or two ago when people were fretting about the 2025 Dodgers surpassing the 35-5 of the 1984 Tigers? Yes you do, stop lying.
  2. .666 OPS vs RHP, .894 vs LHP. Ok, ok, small sample size and all, but it’s kind of amusing.
  3. Day game after night game, so should they have gone Dingler, Nido, Dingler or Nido, Dingler, Dingler? Nido might actually be the right call if it’s looked at from a catching experience standpoint to pair with Jobe.
  4. Third grade was so long ago. I’m certain my teacher is no longer amongst us. Didn’t need corporal punishment. She could drop you with age appropriate commentary. She didn’t dress like a nun, but I’m certain the plain clothes was just to throw the scent off.
  5. Postgame steaks for them. Bologna for the rest of the lineup.
  6. I gotta be honest. I started mathing with 120 minutes for 2 hours to figure it out. 2 hours and 80 minutes for a 9 inning game? So weird.
  7. It's alright, It's OK, We beat the Yanks, The first 2 days.
  8. Absolutely. The pitching chaos was out of necessity. But then it was wildly successful beyond what could have been hoped for, so it was fun to see in action. Short sample size, all of the buttons were pushed right, all credit in the world to the Tigers. But I’d hate to see it employed intentionally.
  9. Yeah, well, once the effects of the tariffs kick in, that dollar will be gonzo.
  10. How about one game they can have the Magnum PI gathering there. And another game they could have the Beth Bernstein lookalike party there. Maybe a nudist colony gathering for another game.
  11. It’s kind of ironic how earlier in the game the TV booth was talking about Carpenter getting a chance to face LHP and they brought also brought up Ibanez facing RHP as a parallel. He had to in the 9th because only Rogers was left on the bench. And look at that, Ibanez came through in the clutch. Alright, maybe he did have one bad hack at a low slider, but the result of the plate appearance was the result of the plate appearance.
  12. Let me guess, you’re also a dollar short?
  13. One might say that was …. gritty.
  14. Sweeney busting his ass down the line, McKinstry and Ibanez fighting through long plate appearances. None of those hitters in the 9th tried to hit a walk off home run. Those were professional plate appearances realizing that the opposing pitchers were simply not up to snuff in that moment. They were smart, looking for the right pitches to swing at and laying off of stuff they couldn’t do much with.
  15. Nah…. casimir wants you to know that casimir was never worried about today’s game because casimir knew this one was in the bag. Enjoy that walk to Cleveland, Jerk Sox.
  16. This should come as no surprise. But, hey, I bet his golf courses have trees on them. We need lumber? Start there.
  17. Well, I guess the other thing with the “mental” side of it is, it might not be mental at all. Go back to the season finale vs Seattle and the differing opinions on Keith’s baserunning. I go back to what we saw on TV is probably different than what Keith sees on the field, what Cora sees on the field. It might not be as much mental inasmuch as it might be perception or approach. That might be parsing the term mental a bit much, I don’t know.
  18. Having Carpenter lower in the lineup vs a LHSP rather than higher in the lineup is simply to limit the possibility of a 3rd PA vs said LHSP. Perez probably isn’t any great concern at all anyway. But this also allows Ibanez to hit higher in the lineup and possibly have an extra PA vs a LHP.
  19. Its the Jerk Sox. They've already got a foot out the door anyway. Their next series is in Cleveland on Tuesday, but they have to walk because the school bus that they used to get to Detroit had to be returned. The south side schools had spring break last week, but they're back to school tomorrow. Ain't no way they could haul the Jerk Sox from Detroit to Cleveland, head back to Chicago, and then be disinfected, all in time to pick up the youngsters tomorrow morning.
  20. That's fair. Their 3pt shooting was awful, no question. I'm looking at the rebound discrepancy (60% to 40%), and if that's a bit more even, there's a few more runouts that they could have which, given the smaller lineups that the Pistons had during the majority of the game, should have lent itself to more more running opportunities. On the year the Pistons outrebound their opponent 45.1 to 42.5, this game included. I guess since the game came down to the end, if the rebound a bit better or shoot a bit better (or both), the outcome is likely towards Detroit's favor. Maybe front line minutes going to Reed rather than Duren and overall minutes going to Sasser rather than Harris explain last night's aberrations a bit.
