  1. Politely but emphatically decline.
  2. Are the Pistons signing Bregman? I did not see that one coming,
  3. I don’t know if I’d have more faith in Vierling as a regular 3B than Bregman. I think Bregman’s HR numbers would go down, but I’m not sure Vierling would be the better 3B. We all acknowledge, I think, that Bregman’s best days are probably going to be behind him. I think he’s an upgrade over what the Tigers had at 3B last season. The questions to me are, what’s with his career BB% dropping from an annual 12% to 6% last season and is he at an offensive plateau right now and for how lomg? I suspect that the BB% rebounds to double digits and that 2024 was an anomaly (maybe it was contract year pressure, maybe it was Houston’s poor start, maybe some of both). As for his OPS going forward, I’m not as sure. It’s likely to traipse downward, but at what rate over 6 or 7 seasons?
  4. How so? I think there are varying degrees of participation in that deal and Hinch wasn’t really supportive of it (again, this is the public knowledge of it).
  5. Sure, there are some situations are amenable or better served for home schooling. I don’t want to come across as completely anti home school, and I probably did up above.
  6. Was that typed in a French or American accent? I couldn’t tell.
  7. I think it’s fine for an extra week before the playoffs. I think the scheduling in between the rounds is actually fine the way they’ve done it.
  8. Y’all got good jokes today.
  9. I’ll be honest, there’s a part of me that doesn’t want Bregman in part because of the trash cans. I may be wrong, but from my understanding of what is publicly known, Bregman was one of the ring leaders and ignored Hinch’s attempts (the degree of which can be debated) to stop it. What actually happened probably isn’t completely publicly known and I’m sure my singular sentence synopsis is quite incomplete. When Hinch signed with Detroit, I understood the apprehension from those that were against it. Hinch was the only on field personnel that was sentenced for the activities. No players were officially punished. Was Hinch sufficiently charged? There’s discussion to be had. But none of the players were, that cannot be denied. And so that’s always been a sticking point to me with that saga.
  10. That’s a good point about the variety of throws involved.
  11. Slightly related to the anti education part, if one wants to home school, have at it. But don’t bombard a professional and degreed educator for instruction on how to home school. It’s quite insulting to imply someone isn’t worthy of a task that their expertise is then asked for.
  12. I’m sure it has to do with keeping options open for the cup, but it’s weird to see them on a New York and then to Boston road trip with 3 off days in between game days.
  13. The North End of Boston was fun to walk. The Patriot Trail, the older buildings, the narrow roadways, Old North Church. We took a hop on/off tour bus and at a few points where we got off, it felt like we were surrounded by a few downtowns, groups of tall buildings that were grouped together here, and over there, and over there.
  14. So what happened with Bregman’s BB% last season? Completely fell off a cliff. Started somewhat below career average and got worse as the season went on. Baseball savant was not kind to his throwing arm. Good range, bad arm. Is that going to be a problem going forward?
  15. And he would patch it up to run through it again.
  16. Yeah, I had forgotten how pitched well in his 40s.
  17. Gabe Kapler. What’s my prize?
  18. That’s kind of encouraging news given how weak his bat and his throws looked in Detroit. I’d like to see Keith get some time at 3B, but I guess maybe his shoulder/arm can’t handle it? 1B seems like it might get crowded in a few seasons, but I suppose it’s foolish to assume all of the current and potential 1B options will make it that far.
  19. Oh heck, I forgot I took her picture!
  20. Yes, we made sure to stay back from the edge. Never did see any rats, which I was on the lookout for.
  21. Any mention of Torkelson at 3B?
  22. Only mollycoddles need that stuff.
  23. We were on the subway a little in Manhattan. While I’m sure I don’t understand the enormity of it, it was quite a thing to me. I hadn’t considered the connections and the crossings of North-South lines with East-West lines and how that would require another staircase to traverse in the same station, but, sure, that makes sense when seeing it. I don’t recall seeing much of a police presence in the underworld, but I can’t say I was looking out, either. But we’re noobs, so what do we know? We did manage to not pay attention and boarded a train with what is probably safe to assume was someone that was homeless. He was unkempt, sleeping on sets with a blanket over him, and had a small grocery cart with him. Of course we didn’t realize it until he doors closed. Ah, here’s a fun subway story. It’s me, my wife, and our 13 year old daughter. We get down to an already stopped train unsure if we should take it. My wife suddenly climbs on after we hesitated. Doors close before my kid and I can get on it. A lady noticed it, and had a look of horrified confusion on her face. I don’t think she saw me, so I think she thought my kid was left by herself. So, OK, my kid and I wait for the next train. Train shows up, I’m still not sure that’s the right direction. I’m fumbling with my phone, my kid moves towards the train, and I just grab her with my other hand. “Nope, either we board same time shoulder to shoulder or I make you hold my hand.” Then my wife and I connect on the phone. She went the wrong way, she’ll board the next one going the right way, we’ll meet at the destination. Ok, fine. The kid and I board the next train going the right way. Doors close, train starts moving. We’re at the rear of our car. I look at the next car and the wife is sitting at the beginning of that car, paying absolutely no attention to the kid and I banging and waving at her.
  24. Bravo on the deep cut.
  25. Yes, but he’s only a power hitter vs RHPs. Granted, that’s the better side of the platoon, so that helps. But like I said, if he can be used as trade bait to bring back something to help elsewhere on the roster, I’d be interested.
