  1. Sure, I agree with you for the most part. I don't know where things go from here. Its not as easy as saying, well, those that are not vaccinated had their chance, so let's rip off the band aid and get back to normal. There are still poor effects happening to those that are vaccinated (indirectly for the most part) and those that are not eligible to be vaccinated.
  2. I just kind of thought of this, and I don't know if I'll be able to express it properly or not. But, you think about today and how baseball is widely available on TV and radio (although radio availability has traditionally been more widespread). So, in the past, a baseball game was more of a treat to go to or to watch than these days. In the past, someone might be more willing to devote a 3 hour chunk of time to watch a game than today because baseball games weren't as available. This is probably something that has been mentioned here before, but I don't recall it. Anyway, the scarcity of football games (weekly vs daily) can kind of have this variable attached to it as well. Following a favorite team means 12 -14 games in college or 17-20 games in the NFL. Meanwhile, if you want to follow an MLB team, there are 162 games a year. If I watch a game and its moving at a snail's pace, and I need to do something else (say mow the lawn), I might decide bail on that game and tune in the next day. Now, I think we can all understand that there's a lot of dead time in a football game. What have studies said, the ball is only in play for like 12 minutes of a 60 minute game clock? But I'm going to stay with the football game because there are limited opportunities during the season. Plus, I've got halftime to move away from the TV for a break, whereas baseball doesn't have that. I don't know if I've typed that out well enough or not. And its not the reason for baseball having an unfavorable reputation vs football despite having a similarity between the two, but I think its part of the equation.
  3. I know you are not giving some leaders a pass. But there have been some missed opportunities to minimize the impact along the way.
  4. Its just a healthy reminder that COVID things that come out of Trump's blowhole are not to be trusted.
  5. Its OK, it'll be gone by Easter.
  6. I'm old enough to remember 60 game seasons.
  7. I have a teenage daughter in the house. Everything and everybody is stupid.
  8. Phoenix Suns (32-9) vs Detroit Pistons (10-31)
  9. I was close. And I think I prefer spelling out defeated former president. Don’t acronymize it. Spell it out, give that title its proper due.
  10. Regarding the DH, I wonder what split is between (1j for DH, (2) against DH, or (3) just pick one and make it consistent across both AL & NL. I suspect (3) is the leader.
  11. Man, I was thinking earlier today about Huey’s spring training photos back in the day. How spoiled were we then?
  12. DFP? Donald Friggin’ Plump?
  13. Not hall of fame, but hall of he made your team better than a lot of other options would.
  14. The autograph is first ballot stuff. Elementary school teaching nuns would be proud of it. In fact, I bet the handwriting posters in elementary schools are based off of Kaline’s signature.
  15. Time to geographically realign the league.
  16. Anyone remember this: Pistons Considered Potential Suitor For Marvin Bagley III I kind of wonder is it has any legs to it still. We're past the mentioned date of December 15th, but I would have to imagine all of the COVID crap could have thrown a wrench into deal making. But now that the Bol Bol deal came and went, I wonder if Bagley might still be an option, or if the interest just dissipated (from either side), or if the rumbling was just a bunch of hullaballoo. I guess a couple of things to note in the article would be his refusal to enter a game under Walton's watch and the fact that Diallo has gotten splinters out of his shorts since the original article was posted.
  17. I don't know if this is entirely accurate, or if last night's game in particular is just in the forefront of this thought. Diallo does a pretty good job of finding holes in the defense around the basket when not being a primary piece in a play. Its not necessarily always there to get to the basket and await a pass for a layup, but there were several times last night that went to the basket and made himself available. Bey suddenly appears to be a different player than earlier this season. There was a game or two a few weeks ago where it seemed like there was a concerted effort to get him some layups early in the game. Probably a play to get his confidence up and hope that it translated to out beyond the arc? I'm still hopefully that Hayes & Cunningham can become a cohesive backcourt. I know Hayes has not exactly lived up to the hype and the early returns suggest a whiff on picking him rather than Tyrese Halliburton. Hayes won't be someone to build around, but can he still become a good complimentary piece of the puzzle? Last season was rough between his play, the roster, his injury, etc. This season there was the COVID break. I know this is going to sound like an excuse, but that's quite a set of obstacles to deal with as a young player. Like I said, it ain't been pretty so far, but hopefully there's more consistency going forward so that he can develop into something.
  18. Funny how that works out, isn't it?
  19. I dream of trading Funhouser while he’s come off of a decent season.
  20. But the good thing is that the school systems that benefit from these revenues are swimming in plenty of funds.
  21. In my mind, the ref called that foul on ill advised intent rather than an actual physical foul. It didn't appear like there was enough of a "touch" for a foul, but the ref saw what Lyles was doing and thought, "wow, that's pathetic play, pathetic enough that I'm calling a foul on the pathetic attempt itself".
  22. Toronto Raptors (20-18) vs Detroit Pistons (9-31)
  23. Why does this clown get any media attention?
  24. You should have learned better grammar.
  25. I don’t know about Toppin. But your logic on the pick becoming better is reasonable.
