  1. Cabrera will finish 2nd in MVP voting to Victor Reyes. Twice. Cabrera will be a Tiger through 2025. Book it.
  2. I've noticed a couple of blue jays have returned to the yard this week. I'm calling Toronto in the AL. I had a beer last night whilst watching the Tigers. I'm calling the Brewers in the NL. Be bold, morans, be bold.
  3. What more evidence are you looking for? Just extended consistency on their current numbers at AAA? I know there's been some chatter about Greene's BBs & SOs.
  4. I don't like the defense that comes with that trio and Cabrera remains the DH next season. I suppose there's a line of thinking that 2022 is the last season for Cabrera, the Tigers can afford one of those gloves in the OF for next season before moving them to DH. I don't know. In a perfect world, I'd like to see the DH alternately filled by a regular position player to get them off of their feet defensively for a semi rest day. Maybe that's too much to ask in this day and age, but I think if a team goes with only 13 position players, it can help with rest & recovery throughout a season.
  5. It'd be fun to leave town after scoring 40+ runs in a 3 game sweep and leaving their pitching staff in disarray right before the playoffs.
  6. You got it, dude.
  7. Could be worse. Could be shut down like the old place.
  8. I think this is probably true. If they somehow go with only 12 Ps, then I think a 5th "pure" OF is possible.
  9. Was I right, or was I right?
  10. MLB BB% is 8.7% this season. Not sure how Greene's 11% translates to the big league, but do with the 8.7% what you will.
  11. My dad always said "if you do it right the first time, you don't have to do it again". Man, if I had a nickel for every time I fouled something up and then muttered that to myself.....🙃
  12. I just think there is a pretty good difference between a rule 5 season and 4th year in the bigs with a hollow AVG heavily fueled by BABIP combined with 0 power and a horrid BB/SO. Look, I'll give him credit, every time he gets a hit or draws a walk he gets on base and that's a good thing. But it doesn't happen enough, he doesn't hit for power, and a lot of his numbers say he's not much more than a bench option that should earn his keep in spring training. Unless he falls into a big magic bin of pixie dust, he is the nothing more than the AAAA player that he has shown to be.
  13. Hmmm..... You could be right, I may be crazy. I know Jones was, and I was sure that Reyes was as well. Maybe I am confusing Mazara's DFA in there onto Reyes?
  14. You mean tomorrow?
  15. It’s rational to be emotional.
  16. I want to like the first sentence of your paragraph, and hate the last sentence of your paragraph. Which emoji thing do I use?
  17. I’m not sure why cherry picking the best numbers as opposed to the whole of the resume is a better gauge, but do what you wish. I will say, to the favor of Reyes, he has been more durable than Hill. Hill’s penchant for missing time, and questionable bat as @gehringer_2 alluded to, are definitely considerations. I don’t mind bringing Reyes back for spring training. But what are the 40 man roster moves to be made? Who is at the brink of rule 5 status? Heck, will there be a rule 5 in the new CBA (haven’t heard it’s going away, but who knows)?
  18. Barring a free agent or trade acquisition, I think this makes sense. I question the DH PAs, might be a bit high. For example, Grossman is at 34 PAs this season. But I suppose that’s a function of the OF being shallow this season. Mazara (remember him?) didn’t work out. Jones and Reyes found themselves DFAed. Cabrera’s push for 500 HRs and 3,000 Hs. Heck, they ran CastroW and Haase out to the OF. Hmmmmm…. Haase getting some LF reps in spring training. Y’all remember that? It kind of worked out.
  19. He's had 4 MLB seasons, although in fairness, his first was as a rule 5 guy.
  20. Reyes is ~.700 OPS. Interestingly he's got a fairly good BABIP. I go back to Grossman & Greene as starters and Baddoo & Hill filling the roster. Baddoo probably gets the majority of starts over Hill. HIll has an elite skill set which can be helpful. I'm not sure what Reyes' elite skill set. BABIP?
  21. We would all like to see him get better. But he hasn't and he's below average. That's not a good combo.
  22. You know what they need to fix with the playoffs? Under the current scenario, one of the Dodgers/Giants will be playing in a one game advance or fold game while Atlanta isn't forced into such a scenario. MLB is making a team with a 17 game lead over another team in the same league play in (basically) a one game qualifier to advance to the tournament where series are played. Not only that, but then MLB is guaranteed to have one of those teams eliminated before the NLCS because of the playoff bracket that is used. Milwaukee is the 2 seed, Atlanta is the 3 seed. This despite that fact that the 4 seed will have a better record (and we're not talking a game or two), this despite the fact that the 5 seed could have a better record than the 3 seed. Its asinine to reward seeds based on geography.
  23. But why do you assume Reyes will improve when he hasn't? That was the question.
  24. Why assume this? He's been the same player the last few years.
  25. Gross.
