  1. Not exactly a showcase of pitching today.
  2. Anyone else think Schneider’s mustache is an absolute doppelgänger for Brookens’ playing days mustache?
  3. I don’t mind this early exit today. I think they need to be cognizant of his workload the past two seasons coming into this season. A day off tomorrow, so whatever bullpen arms are available, none of them need to be saved for tomorrow.
  4. He’s had one really poor outing. Other than that, he’s been fine this season. I’m more comfortable with Wentz than Lange (who isn’t available anyway).
  5. Not sure I’d get all chesty about the backup catcher being 0 for 2 as the DH. I don’t want to see it, but what happens if Rogers gets pulled early and the Tigers lose the DH? The reward for Kelly’s bat doesn’t offset the risk of starting one of them at DH.
  6. It was mentioned during the TV broadcast that JK Simmons was interviewed, but I don’t think it was specific about being for the podcast or not. But, yeah, the Baez comments….. Do we think Baez as subscribed to the pod?
  7. Agree. Maybe if they’re giving one or the other a day off, but not both for the same game. Plus somehow the MLB schedulebot overrode human intervention to give the Tigers a day off tomorrow, a holiday off day. Nice work, MLB. And absolutely no reason to have both Rogers and Kelly in the starting lineup right now. That’s grounds for malpractice.

  9. But we can agree it’s better to debate after a win than a loss, yes?
  10. I think that’s reasonable. But I still prefer the way it was done.
  11. That’s true. But he was also warming up in the 8th in the event of PHs after Springer in the 8th. Now he’s hot. He can be brought into the game today. Perhaps Foley can be used tomorrow for a short bit with the day off on Monday (which is junk), although that would be the 3rd game in a row.
  12. So who did you want against the middle of Toronto’s batting order?
  13. That’s fair. Foley has had his struggles lately. In general and for the season, I think Foley has been better. If the stats say otherwise, I’ll eat it. I still think the deployment that Hinch used was the right call. I will say, I was a bit disappointed when Olson was taken out. He was pitching well. He was close to the end of his day. I just wonder, if Canha converts the out at 1B like he should have, does he stay in the get the 3rd out? Kiner-Falefa is probably still at 2B in that instance.
  14. Take voice strength out of it. I get more baseball out of Gibson or Petry than Monroe or Jones.
  15. The bats have had the $#!+$ all season.
  16. Foley is probably their best reliever. Why not use him against the middle of the order rather than the bottom of the order where pinch hitting is more probable?
  17. Yup. Additionally, if Hinch goes with an inferior RP vs the middle of the order, Foleyor whomever else might not get a save opportunity.
  18. I liked Hinch’s reasoning for using Foley in the 8th. I have no problem with it whatsoever. I think it was the smart play.
  19. Poor Colt Keith is going to show his grandkids video of his first ever home run and his grandkids are going to say “Paw Paw, why are you wearing those silly looking jerseys?”.
  20. That’s misleading. The Tigers as a whole are 89 OPS+. That’s 27th out of 30 teams.
  21. That wasn't a discussion about wedding gifts or curses on bats.
