  1. Is that really random variation to be that far on either extreme of run scoring?
  2. Baddoo not PHing for Urshela vs a RHP at this point in the game is kind of indicative of Baddoo’s future with the Tigers.
  3. The other variable to Meadows is his defense. Baddoo was brought in as a defensive replacement last night. Let that sink in for a moment. Unfortunately for Meadows, there just isn't enough offense elsewhere to hide his bat at the bottom of the order.
  4. Quick math shows 38.7% of hits + walks result in a run scored across MLB. Miller is at 55%. HR9 in MLB is 1.1, Miller is 1.2. I wouldn't think that HR9 delta is the entire answer to the run % delta.
  5. No updates on his twittergram account. Yet.
  6. Same here. I guess the only preferences that I might have revolve around defensive position. If there are more than one player at a spot that seems reasonable, go with someone that plays up the middle. SS, CF, or SP, in no particular order. I do find some of the financial bonus money pool factors interesting, and the strategies that are involved. I might not always agree with them, but what the heck do I know.
  7. I agree with you for the Atlanta game opener. I still don't understand burning him in the Houston series ender.
  8. You know, looking over the stats, vest isn't all that different from Foley this season. Foley probably isn't available because he pitched 2 innings the game before. Was Brieske available? Miller to go after 5, 6, 7 and then Vest to go after 8, 9, 1? I don't recall the LHB/RHB scenario, but toss that out because there are no LHPs available that I want in a 1 run game.
  9. So, I understand pitching Foley on Sunday because he hadn't pitched in 5 days. But throwing Holton 2 innings in that game down by 3? That probably factors into his lack of availability for this game.
  10. In somewhat fairness to the bullpen this game without absolving their recent month and a half performance, saving a 1 run game for 3 innings is no given. Allowing 1 run over 3 innings is a 3.00 ERA, that's an ace SP. This game is again on the offense. Its funny you bring up Fetter. I've started to question things a bit lately, in particular with how the bullpen has performed. Maybe the pieces just aren't very good to begin with, I don't know. He's had guys with "stuff" that could never figure out the control (Soto, Lange). On the other hand, he polished up Lorenzen and Flaherty is having a resurgence.
  11. Remember when the bullpen was lights out?
  12. I still find myself thinking about pinch hitting for pitchers in National League parks. Old habits die hard.
  13. Yes and no. Torkelson and Baez have stunk out loud and 3B has probably been slightly better than expected. I think the first half of that equation is the extreme of baseball.
  14. I think I know what he was trying to get to, but he failed articulating it. I think what he was trying to express was similar to when shadows get in between the pitcher's mound and home plate. The sun isn't necessarily in the batter's eye, but the ball is going in and out of shadows. I think that's what Petry meant. Regardless, that play has to be made.
  15. It’d be interesting to see just how volatile the Tiger offensive routs are vs it’s normal output. What percentage of these games are outliers to it’s normal distribution, and how does that compare to the rest of the league?
  16. Maybe it’s as simple as what @Sports_Freak said earlier. Maybe he’s just fallen off of the cliff this year. Father Time is undefeated.
  17. I guess that’s 5D level chess fandom that I do not understand.
  18. Awesome. Enjoy your loss.
  19. They said Foley hasn’t pitched in a while, so he was probably due for some game run. Agree with you on Holton.
  20. Are you here to root against the Tigers? I guess I don’t understand that point, but whatever.
  21. If you enjoy a terrible disposition about things, so be it.
  22. E5 on the double clutch & throw? Not the easiest of plays for a 3B, but I’d say it’s one that is usually made. I think Singleton had a reasonable chance to catch that at 1st for an out. If the Tigers get a hit, I think this error gets changed to a hit.
  23. The Tigers’ IF coming into the season was locked at 1B, 2B, and SS. 3B was going to be a mix. Heading into today, of course the most productive IF position for the Tigers (in terms of bbref WAR) has been 3B.
  24. With no due respect, eff that.
