  1. His last 30 games (95 ABs) his OPS is .847.
  2. Mickey Moniak is a strange dude. He started in the minors in 2016 and had mediocre results until last year when mysteriously at the age of 24, in AAA, he figured out how to hit. Started this year in AAA again, kept dominating and finally got called up a couple of months ago where, at the age of 25, he has an OPS in the high .900's. Hope springs eternal. Mickey Maniac.
  3. Dean Chance. I got a 0.04 rarity for him on Immaculate Grid.
  4. To inject some decorum.
  5. Yeah I watched it from a motel in Winnipeg, had just moved there and didn't have an apartment yet. For Gibby/Gossage I was in a hotel in Edmonton.
  6. He's getting lots of opportunities, and had better do something with them soon. Toledo beckons.
  7. Oh and this is interesting...Dingler did not get promoted.
  8. I think that that is correct, which strikes me as odd because he had a good year at Erie last year, but was not rewarded with a promotion to Toledo this year, until now. I think that the professional evaluators do not like Wenceel as much as we box score readers do, and they of course have the credibility. After last year, I wanted him to be the starting second baseman in Detroit this year after the all star break. Clearly I have no idea about how to judge outcomes.
  9. That's a very interesting observation. Hideki Matsui signed with the Yankees but other than him I can't think of a marquee Japanese or Korean player who signed with a team that wasn't West Coast.
  10. Somebody more energetic than me needs to go back to that last game that Babe Ruth pitched, to see if there was anybody in the opposing teams' lineup that had a long career.
  11. That's the 100th consecutive post-game interview with Hinch that I haven't bothered to listen to. I don't want to be characterized as a "Hinch hater", or someone who "wants him fired", I don't think that that latter person actually exists here. It's just that I think that he is completely irrelevant to the success or failure of the current team.
  12. Greene's instincts there were terrible, just as bad as Torkelson in the same situation a few days ago. Two out, pitcher wasn't at 10 pitches yet...and they swing at the first one. You have to take at least one strike there, maybe even 2, or else you are going to get yelled at as a 16 year old.
  13. 6 out of 9 on the grid, I got shut out on the Braves questions.
  14. Just to complicate things even more, Baddoo made a highlight reel play taking away a home run, for the benefit of those who say that he isn't a good outfielder. In his rookie year he looked like a 20/20 player but that seems unlikely now. It looks like he will stay on the team for the rest of this year, but might start 2024 in Toledo again. Where he will rake, as usual.
  15. That's a good one, I would not have thought of Minnie Minoso.
  16. Because it is important to make sure that everyone here knows about it. Motownforums is a private club, it isn't Letters to the Editor, and it is a private club where 99% of the members are opposed to white supremacists and xenophobes and their dog whistles. So when Greta kicked that guy's nuts up into his throat, I would never have heard about it if it had not been mentioned here. Here is an FAQ from this site: "How did the Republicans manage to F up an entire country, top to bottom, perhaps irreparably"? And the answer always is "Because the Democrats stood back and let them". That's what happens when people say "just ignore them" or "don't give it oxygen". It's terrible advice. You have to bring this type of thing to everyone's attention, and mock it mercilessly.
  17. I should think so, he is looking like the second coming of JD.
  18. I still like the hockey draft, where you can retain the rights in a situation like this.
  19. I'm weak on military terminology, never having served. Is that an "ass-kicking"?
  20. Yes I think that strategy can be fixed, but tactics have to be flexible for changing circumstances. So the strategy might be "get value for JD" but the tactic "at the deadline" shouldn't be carved in stone. And 3 weeks before the deadline, JFC. I liked the shoutout to the Tigers in that article about Jatnk Diaz, someone mentioned that their evaluation process was flexible enough that, late in the draft run-up, they could put some resources in on Diaz that not been planned for, with a positive outcome.
  21. Theoretically true but I don't think that Dombrowski was going to let him play for anyone except the Red Sox and would have kept bidding higher and higher. But your scenario would have been the best outcome.
  22. I don't think his career is going to be boosted at all by mocking him in MotownForums. Who is that other guy, is that the guy that Greta knocked out? Think about the people who use Motownforums, are they going to have positive feelings about someone like that, be influenced by his point of view? It's important to make sure that everyone knows about these people, and does their best to humiliate them.
  23. Yeah trading JD for sweet f all was dumb. There was no market for righthanded power without speed or defense - Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion found that out the previous winter in free agency. So wait for the deadline but you're probably not going to get anything for a rental. In that case, keep him and let the fans enjoy him, and say that you hope to re-sign him.
