2025 Splits: Baez .770 against LH'ers, Meadows .653 against RH'ers (2024: .746, 2023 .689...). Cobbled together like that is at least a passable CF'er on offense. And the defense for the win. IMO.

PS: At defensive end I want to do the same thing... Spend less money on a rotational or backup DE. 3 guys I believe may be in the 3 years $18-27 mill contract range (hopefully Holmes can grab one at the LOWER part of that range...), each with their own positives and limitations: Kwity Paye, Kingsley Enagbare and Dre'Mont Jones. If Holmes nabs Enagbare, he's from the Packers so that's a small bonus...

I'd rather go after a cheaper Center like Cade Mays... 3 years $18-21 mill? He can play Guard or Center which makes him perfectly flexible according to how the Lions IOL shakes out... IMO. Plus that's a whole heckuva lot cheaper than Linderbaum. And I believe Holmes' and Campbell's focus is STILL on draft and development and they do NOT want to spend that much money in free agency on one guy. At least I believe that that is still true...

It wouldn't bother me at all to trade down... Even our 1st rounder. Especially if he could garner an additional 2nd or even just a 3rd... (more likely a 3rd... but not putting anything past what Brad Holmes can pull out of his... errr, hat...)

Compher is simply for some salary match. But they would have him for two more seasons after this so... you know... warm body. Add in Nate and a 1st and a future conditional 2nd (a 1st if the Wings make the playoffs this year and the next...? Just a WAG on what the 2nd pick would actually be like). I don't know how bad off Vancouver is currently with his situation... but it might possibly force his value to be down by x-amount... ?

I would be OK with Petterson if we also sent out Compher as part of the package...

What I would disagree with on this is that we wouldn't be able to handle 9 new players... I'm calling BS on that... Half of the guys they draft will end up on the practice squad anyways... And the starters or cheap depth that this team could use, to develop, practice squad, coach up or otherwise... Equals: 1 OT, 1 IOL (Center or Ratledge = starting center so Guard... or Guard/Center capable), 1 TE (or possibly 2?), backup RB who is a bigger between-the-tackles/ goalline back, 1 DE, 1 DT, 1 LB'er, 1 CB, 2 Safeties. Or, in other words: between 9 and 11 players. Doesn't mean Holmes can get 9 "Lions" players in this draft... And obviously, Holmes is not drafting 9 starters for those positions. A lot of those guys will end up as backups... hopefully high-quality backups... But, yeah, we need the depth and 9 is not an unabsorbable number of new players. IMO.

I think Holmes absolutely WILL add a free agent RB. Like RR is pointing out... what about THIS year? And I believe there are multiple veteran RB's in FA this year that are similar to Monty and can closely (if not perfectly) match Monty's output. Even a couple guys who used to be workhorses, but because of age will probably be stuck with a 2026 role that is similar to Monty's rather than still being the "feature back". This includes Brian Robinson Jr., Joe Mixon, James Connor, Tyler Allgeier... maybe a few others too. If he adds one of these guys on an inexpensive contract, especially if he can get one on a "vet min" contract... Brad Holmes will again display his genius. Just a WAG... but I think he gets one of those guys... Another WAG: James Connor... but not at Vet Min.

He's healthy next year: Joe Mixon.

Someone I'd be interested in if he would come in on a 2-year to learn everything he possibly could: As a backup to Goff: Justin Fields. Can we get him on a 2-year deal for a reasonable amount? I know we have higher priorities... I'm just sayin'... His stock is way down and I don't believe there's a starting gig for him this year... I still think he has starter upside... I think backing up Goff for a year or two would be miraculous for his headspace and game... If Goff gets knocked out a game or a few I like having a very high-end backup... especially if that were in the playoffs or even the Super Bowl. I'm interested in taking this chance... Just my 2 cents.

I like Christian Anderson... But aside from great shooting, he's too small and has no strength to get to the rim and has the same problems at defense (gets pushed around/ shots-against over the top...). He really looks like another Marcus Sasser but with more PG skills and less strength. IMO, he's a 2nd rounder or very late 1st. Sort of a bubble guy (to me.) Vecenie is picking on Detroit's 3-point weakness and ignoring everything else. I'd rather take a chance at size in the 1st, someone who could eventually push Harris to SF and Robinson to the bench as 6th man... Someone who has range AND defense AND size... etc. And use a 2nd on a guard like Anderson or Ball or Thornton or several others with range (even if not as good as CA, but maybe bigger/ stronger/ better defense/ better playmaker...), etc.

Offset by how quickly Venezuela can up their game... Although I don't think that's a fast thing... Zero effect until they actually get that moving upwards...
