  1. I would look to Myles Murphy, Bresee, or Tyree Wilson, in that order (IMO).
  2. So the next questions are: 1) How much of the future is Goff? 10 years, when he'll be 39? For at least the next 2 years (his current contract) and then re-evaluate? Because.. if he's more than two years then it will take an extension to get him past 2 years. 2) Is he worth an additional 5 years (total of 7 to bring him to age 36...) at $200 mill, at least $150 mill guaranteed (current approximate going rate...)? 3) If Goff goes down for 6 weeks in mid-December next year, how does the rest of the year play out? (I'm talking specifically playoff games). I get that a better backup could be signed than Sudfeld... but a draft pick is also a valid option. I think it's completely asinine to rule out drafting a QB, in any round. I have no qualms about drafting a QB, whenever that may be, in whatever round. The one and ONLY issue in my mind is can the GM properly identify the right QB that can be developed by the current coaching staff. That's it. And Holmes wins in my mind. Over ANYTHING that ANY internet warrior in here has to say.
  3. We'll just have to see about that...
  4. Even if they fall to the 2nd or 3rd round.
  5. I still would have looked at him as a 1-year stopgap, regardless. So I don't think that will really be on any fans, especially casual fans, radar... IMO: His worth if he has a real nice comeback season was still (to the Tigers) to be a trade deadline candidate.
  6. Criscuolo is 30 so there's nothing but upside here... even if Jasper never does all that much... Although he already has more NHL games (50) than Criscuolo's 15... I'm not certain what the Shark's angle is here...
  7. He's a big guy at 6' 4" 225 #'s... I'm assuming he's a grind-liner type? Don't know if he has any offensive upside or his level of toughness...
  8. The biggest issue will be (IMO): How is his defense?
  9. Or... He just really loves being a part of this Lions team and wants to be a part of their future success. For now.
  10. I think Goff does need a strong support system. But I think every QB needs a support system because it's a team game and no QB, no matter how good he is, can carry a garbage team forward with any success. Goff lost all his offensive support with the Rams and did not look good. But he's more than a game manager. As MB points out, he is NOT Dilfer or Grossman. He's better than that. He just is. He's not quite Stafford (arm, creativity and creativity in the face of a tough defense); although he may end up with very comparable stats... But he's a helluva lot better than just a game manager. He did need some kind of support system to get back on track. And I would say that, in Detroit, he has... SOME kind of a support system...! 😉
  11. +1 That's where I'm at exactly.
  12. This is what I was thinking. He should have interviewed just for the experience and, as you say, possible connections for further down the road...
  13. Since they rotate to keep their D-Lineman fresh... Even if they drafted Jalen Carter I think Levi would still have a prominent role... if he can stay healthy that is...
  14. Houston is 6' 1" 240#. I don't want him as a starter at DE. He'll get worn out defending the run and have nothing left as a pass-rusher. He's actually listed as a LB'er for now which I think is correct.
  15. That's why I say: If not Jalen Carter than Myles Murphy!!!
  16. PS: I missed an obvious one: Defended Kuwait against Iraqi imperialism (successfully).
  17. Two things: 1) That's why I said "nearly". It's in your quote of my post... 2) I believe Taiwan already has some American air defense systems. I haven't been following this aspect closely... but I don't believe they are starting from scratch. They may need more... but they're not starting from zero. One more thing: I want ATACMS in Ukraine. Like... yesterday.
  18. From where I'm sitting, it looks like a: BS in Life.
  19. I'm already thinking of the deadline and if Stevie can somehow pull a rabbit out of his hat...
  20. And I probably missed quite a few but those were the most notable I believe...
  21. Well, our report card so far is: Defended democratic portion of South Korea (successfully) Defended democratic portion of Vietnam (unsuccessfully, and the "democracy" was highly questionable) Defended Cuba against Spanish Empire (successfully, went to war with Spain and subsequently took Puerto Rico & Philippines and offered democracy to both, but questionable support in Cuba (dictators) after that until Castro took over) Defended Afghanistan against Russian imperialism (successfully, materials supply until we lost interest and it fell apart) Defended Ukraine (democracy/ EU/ NATO wannabe) against Russian imperialism (successfully so far, money & materials only at this point. I'd love to see EU Peacekeepers establish a no-fly zone west of the Dnieper and bring in air defense, 90,000 EU troops, and EU fighter jets. But that's just me.) Defended Bosnia-Herzegovina & Kosovo after the EU flopped and the Muslims asked why we defended Israel but not them in the name of humanity and Serbia's genocidal attacks (successfully). Defended democratic separatists in Panama against Columbia and created a new democracy in central America (successfully). Oh, and Teddy Roosevelt decided he would get the Panama Canal built (several failures before him) because it would benefit all of the Americas... successfully. We've also: CIA overthrew democratically elected Iranian government (I think it was 1954? and installed the US-supporting "Shah") Supported multiple hard right wing governments including death squad regimes. Attacked Iraq based on pure lies/ fabrication and tried to install an Iraqi-type/requested-democracy. Mixed results. Support Saudi Arabia which in no way resembles a democracy. Support Israel which does. There's a mixed record in there but I think overall... The US ABSOLUTELY has a history of supporting democracy. In multiple countries/ regions.
  22. Well then... Here's a quickie for ya'... it's just a question... based on pure logic and actual facts, as of today: How much of a role has the Navy played in Ukraine's war? Since they are asking us to make a choice between Taiwan and Ukraine that is....
  23. No it doesn't. Taiwan is nearly 100% naval support. Ukraine is military supplies and economic support. One does not have an effect on the other.
  24. They're not trying to trade him... not yet... I believe.
