2024 Trade Deadline Rumors and Discussion
1984Echoes replied to LongLiveMaroth's topic in Detroit Tigers
TOP FOUR...? No, there's no team that would ever do that. Unless their top 4 wasn't that good. To get Miggy, we traded our top 2 (at the time, Andrew Miller and Cam Maybin) plus other pieces. And that's what we're asking (as a ridiculous huge ask but we won't settle for anything less...) of the Orioles with TWO of their top 6-ish I think. And plus some lesser pieces. So if WE were in that spot... I'd probably call Clark & Jobe untouchable (as the Orioles are probably doing with Holliday and probably Basallo) but everyone else available. So that would mean starting with Jung & McGonigle and adding as few more, lower, pieces. If we had the Orioles team and could add a Skubal today, right now (2 1/2 years under control)... ? I'd say yes to a Jung + McGonigle + other pieces package. -

Struggles with secondary pitches, and stamina in-game (loses velocity throughout...). If they were going to try and pop a difficult sign... I would've preferred Dax Whitney. Much better stuff, repeatability and projectability. But probably interested only in college at this point and not enough bonus available to change his mind... Just talking out loud... -

If you don't like following minor leaguers then quit ****ting all over those of us who do. PS: I find your behavior to be beyond rude. It's insulting. -

Plus most college guys hit by Year 3 (74%), tapering off quickly after that. Whilst HS guys build up to Year 5 (mostly 3-4-5: but 81% by yr 5), then taper off. -

There is however... Still a couple prep pitchers I wish they'd chase. But... I'm assuming the bonus demands put them out of play... -

Carson stays ONLY if he signs an extension PRIOR to the deadline. IMO. If he has no extension by this trading deadline, I believe he will be moved. I won't put a high (IE: 95%) rate of belief in that though, and same with Flaherty... Because I'm thinking Harris/ Hinch/ Org may make the decision to "screw it, let's just go for as many wins as we can get to this year". I don't know what Harris is thinking in that vein, at least this year. Because... he's stated that his immediate goal is to build up the Org's system/ depth. And stated a few times I believe that he is going to trade these guys. To further build up our prospect pipeline. But with a competitive team trying to "grow up" and actually be able to win games... he may go against that and opt for Wins instead of Org Depth. I don't know what his thought process will be, faced with the current year situation. Jake might be moved. But it won't be at the break. It will be this year's offseason, at the earliest. But I'm thinking more along the lines of trade deadline NEXT year... That allows time for the Tigers to sign Kelly back to Detroit, for Dingler to show what he has/ does NOT have to offer in MLB... And to make certain injuries don't derail any of these plans... Tigers own the rights to Rogers for the next 2 or 3 years... They're not just going to dump him. While they still have question marks at Catcher. -
