  1. 4 of the Tigers' past 5 wins have been by 1 run. 6-5 over LA Angels last Friday, 2-1 over the White Sox, 1-0 over the White Sox and 4-3 over the Twins.
  2. Tigers win! My apologies to Rafael Montero.
  3. That's one. Let's try to get another or two.
  4. I'm still terrified of Buxton. I don't think you can walk him to put a runner in scoring position, but geesh, be careful.
  5. That's probably ballgame. Tigers don't score, looks like Montero is coming in, and Buxton will be up 3rd if it gets that far.
  6. I wonder if Finnegan will be sent back out for the 9th if the Tigers don't break the tie in the top of the inning. I assume that if the Tigers do score Vest will be brought in for the attempted save.
  7. Riley Greene saves an extra base hit. Player of the game tonight for sure.
  8. Tigers face the depleted Twins bullpen and in 2 2/3 inning so far tonight have 0 runs 0 hits and 1 walk off of it.
  9. Good recovery by Skubal. Retires 13 of 14 after giving up 3 in the 3rd inning.
  10. Greene homers. Back in the old days, a 2-run homer during a Skubal start would mean an automatic win.
  11. 5 of the past 6 Twins hitters have reached base. The only one who didn’t drove in a run in a groundout.
  12. Homer, double, single. Skubal’s bad inning coming a bit earlier tonight.
  13. We’re due for some obligatory strikeouts. Not one the first time through the order.
  14. "Dietrich Enns got through a nervy 9th inning for his 3rd career save...Was there every any doubt? I think not". 2H 1R 1BB. Orioles beat the Mariners.
  15. Speaking of goalies, I was at the local rink today and saw goalies galore! If Yzerman was there he may have signed a couple. Funny, of all my years around the sport, this is first time I recall stumbling upon a goalie camp. Anyways, it’s a neat facility, 8 Rinks, Canucks used to practice there, and this time of year many Vancouver area NHLers and prospects use it to get in some on-ice workouts prior to heading out to their team camps. Celebrini has been there several times this month, there was an Oiler and a Lightning player or prospect there today but I didn’t recognize them.
  16. For fun, I looked up leads past Tigers teams have held after games of August 13. 1968: up 6.0 (won by 12.0) 1984: up 9.5 (won by 15.0) 1987: down 0.5 (won by 2.0) 2006: up 5.5 (up 8.0 over Minnesota who eventually won division by 1.0) 2009: up 2.5 (up 5.0 over Minnesota who eventually won division by tiebreaker game) 2011: up 3.0 (won by 15.0) 2012: down 2.0 (won by 3.0) 2013: up 6.0 (won by 1.0) 2014: down 0.5 (won by 1.0) 2024: down 14.5 (ended season down 6.5) 2025: up 6.5
  17. Am watching Mariners-Orioles. I don't think I've ever heard an Australian accent in the broadcast booth before. It belongs to former Mariners pitcher Ryan Rowland-Smith who is their regular color guy this season.
  18. Yes, my error! I was watching, so knew it was the 6th, but must have mistyped. Guardians lose. Jays lose. Astros win. Mariners trailing 3-1 late.
  19. This game is up and down like a toilet seat. 8-4 Marlins in the 8th. Yay.
  20. Guardians have already come all the way back against Miami. 4-4 in the 4th. Boo.
  21. San Diego’s win this afternoon puts them a 1/2 game up in the NL West. On June 15 the division leaders were Detroit, NYY, Houston, NYM, Chicago and LA. The Tigers still have their lead and Houston is tied, but the other four divisions have flipped.
  22. So 10-6, .625 ball, for the 16 games (1/10th of the season) since the 1-12 horror stretch. Given what for the most part has been a sub-.500 level of competition, it still feels more like treading water than a surge forward. But beats sinking.
  23. Tigers win! Vest with swagger.
  24. lol, I am watching the game but synced to the radio, and Dan blew a call on the Quero at-bat. Exclaimed “swing and a miss” and then paused and modified to “just got a piece of it”. It was actually a foul out of play, no?
