  1. Dan Dickerson is superb. I love his voice, tone, style and knowledge. I will give him a pass on missed calls like last night because he admitted it right away. He reads the ball off the bat well and rarely does an excited jump in his voice end up with a fly ball that doesn’t at least threaten the fence. I think my only complaint about Dan is that he tends to really react a lot now to whether a ball or strike was called correctly. Sometimes without first letting those following by radio only what the call was. Example:”ooooo, that seemed to JUST miss the bottom corner”. Did he go “oooo” because the pitcher made a good pitch that was just a bit off, or did he go oooo because the pitch just missed the strike zone but was called a strike anyways.
  2. Sweeney was rated the Dodgers’ #22 prospect by Baseball America or #28 by MLB Pipeline at the time he was acquired with Liranzo. Given that, playing 130 MLB games like he already has for the Tigers is more than I would have expected for his entire career.
  3. Agreed. I had been to about 10 games in the summer and you wouldn’t even realize it had a roof. Then went to the opening series this season and knew the roof would be closed but didn’t know I’d still be exposed to the elements, lol, just no rain.
  4. Over the past 21 games the Tigers' 14-7 record (.667) is the best record in the AL and tied with San Diego for 2nd in MLB behind Milwaukee. Since the night of July 26 when the Tigers fell to 60-46, as of this moment but with some of this evening's games still in progress, they have picked up in the standings: - 0.5 game on KC - 1.5 games on Boston - 2.0 games on Cleveland - 2.0 games on Seattle - 2.0 games on the Athletics - 2.5 games on NY Yankees - 2.0 games on Baltimore - 3.0 games on LA Angels - 4.0 games on Toronto - 4.5 games on Houston - 5.5 games on Minnesota - 5.5 games on Tampa Bay - 7.0 games on Texas - 7.0 games on Chicago White Sox
  5. Toronto TV showed him motioning to the dugout and clutching his hamstring before the game during warmups. Then stretched for a ball at first base and seemed to aggravate. Then was replaced midway through the game. They're calling it "hamstring tightness" for now.
  6. Yes, the Jays won the season series 4-3. The Detroit Tigers: first in your hearts, first in the American League.
  7. And Vlad Jr. has left the game with a hamstring problem. Jays lose.
  8. Tigers win! 4-game lead for the bye into the ALDS!
  9. Keith had a really slow start, so to now be sitting at .783 OPS for the season is an impressive fight back.
  10. Save some runs for the next two games against tough pitchers! 10-0 Tigers.
  11. Sweeney, a bona fide major leaguer if I ever saw one, lol. 9-0 Tigers,
  12. What an outing for Jack. One shaky inning followed by six superb innings. 6-0 Tigers at the 7th inning stretch.
  13. Correa stopped it from being 7-0.
  14. More good news: the seats behind home plate seem well-populated. I assume the lounge under the seats is now open?
  15. A rare quote of mine that ages well. 5-0 Tigers!
  16. Arrighetti can be had. Time for some insurance.
  17. Another good inning from Flaherty, with perhaps an assist from the ump on the strikeout. 5 IP 0 R 3H 1BB 8K
  18. And then leaves no doubt a few pitches later! 1-0 TIgers.
  19. Perez hit it 2 seats foul.
  20. Nice diving catch by Melton on Greene prevents a Tigers run. 0-0 after 3.
  21. You think the Tigers would be the underdog in a Skubal start at home?
  22. 6-pitch 1-2-3 inning for Flaherty. He needed that. Gets him almost back on track with respect to pitch count, which is at 51.
  23. Inning-ending double play. Of course.
