I hate that rule where you get penalized for the player dropping, I mean it wasn't like it was James' intention to hit him in the head, the receiver just dropped low causing him to hit him in the head. -

Damn I thought they stopped him initially but nope he indeed did get in. Good second effort by Ekeler. -

Looks like it may be coming back to the 16, either way a great run by Montgomery and great downfield blocking by Jamo and somebody else(sorry was focusing more on Jamo and Montgomery so didn't make out the other player). -

I don't see it as much from him anymore but I hated when Romo would basically try to play smartest guy in the room and predict what the play was going to be presnap. That's fine if you want to break it down post play but I don't want to see you telling me what they are thinking or doing before the play happens. -

Chargers may have went for it but regardless big miss tackle by Anzalone, would've been short of the sticks if he makes the tackle. -

Barring certain circumstances(FG gives you the win or puts you up two possessions late etc.) you should always go for it on 4th down at the 1. Even if you don't get it chances are you are going to get the ball back at midfield cause teams tend to go into a shell when they are pinned back and more times than not punt on that first set or 2 of downs. -

I probably would've kicked it on that 4th and 5 too but I also have to remember we don't have Jason Hanson back there so it's not like that would've been a guaranteed 3, Id say more like 75% with our current kicking situation so that makes it a little easier to go for 4th downs in that area of the field. -
Ravens looking dominant early again, already up 14-0 on the Browns not even 5 minutes into that game.

That and as Buddha pointed out Penn State was able to get to JJ with relative ease early on in the game so I don't think Sheronne wanted to risk a strip sack or maybe a rushed INT from JJ when Penn State had shown no ability to do anything against our defense. If Penn State were to start putting drives together and were to take the lead I think you would have seen Moore open up the playbook but until then he wasn't going to risk us making a major mistake and giving them free points. Frustrating to watch as a fan but considering it was essentially a 2 TD win on the road against a top 10 team in a hostile environment it proved to be a smart strategy.
-
Definitely frustrating to see all the runs and conservative play calling but at the same time when Penn State showed little ability to have a sustained drive on our defense you really didn't have to take any chances after we took the 14-3 lead. Just run the clock pick up a 1st down or 2, then pin them deep and force them to go the length of the field. Until they do you just keep repeating the same process like they did. I said they were playing not to lose and although that is a little bit of an insult it also isn't always the wrong choice.

After a billion straight runs Corum finally breaks one for a HUGE TD!!
-
Just completely playing not to lose.

The Don just waits to the big games to show up!

Atta boy guys! Great response by Michigan!

Not watching the game so just box score scouting but Duren's numbers don't look that good, just mentioning that cause some have compared him to a young Drummond and judging by the box score it looks like Embiid and Philly are dominating him just like he and they did every time they played Andre as well.

I hate Valenti's continuous "If this was Ryan Day or Mark Dantonio Michigan fans would be calling for their heads, instead since it's Harbaugh they completely downplay it. " Even if that were true he acts like this is just a UofM thing, virtually every fan from all facets of sports defend their team and put down their rivals. You could just as easily say "If this were Ryan Day you know OSU fans would treat it like it's no big deal and wouldnt want it to be talked about 24/7"

I agree about the non contacting thing. To me that was the biggest issue with him taking an absence. I have no problem with a guy handing his personal problems or family life as those things should come first but I just think it's wrong to keep your employer in the dark about it especially with a high profile public job like he has. As a fan I don't think I'm entitled to know the details of his personal business or illness(if that were the case) but considering the time fans invest and in some people's case the money I think it's fair to atleast for us to know a timetable when a guy could be back. For instance If you know one of your top pitchers is gonna be out for the year maybe you won't invest as much said time or money on the team. For the record Im not saying for sure ERod deliberately kept them in the dark, perhaps the Tigers just flat out told him to take care of things and let them know when he was better and it was them that chose not to contact him but judging on face value it wasn't a good look for ERod.

It does kinda make sense to draft a 3 or 4 year starter in the mid to late 1st round. He may not have the higher upside of a raw 1 year kid but if he can contribute right away and throughout his rookie contract he will provide alot of excess value for you. OTOH if you take the raw player he may turn out to be the better player but it may not come to year 3 or 4 where you are then going to have to pay through the nose to keep him. -
The Tigers of the 2010s were able to win with the stars and scrubs mentality but their stars also didn't perform at "just" All Star level they were legit superstars. When you have 2-3 guys that hit like Cabrera, VMart and for a couple years Fielder did you can get by with some black holes in your lineup. So Overall I agree the best course of action is to have as few of black holes in the lineup as possible which usually means spreading the money around more vs. Using it on 1 or 2 guys.

I know it's only been 9 games but could Sasser be legit and a key piece moving forward? If so that would be huge and help offset Ivey's complete regression. -

Most teams struggle against the elite qbs hence why they are elite so I don't think it's a slight against the Lions if they do. -
Didn't realize until now that tonight's game is Carolina vs. Chicago. Talk about an unappealing matchup. From our standpoint though its good that either way the Bears draft position is gonna take a hit since they have Carolinas pick. My biggest fear is that they end up landing the top 2 picks, if played right that could be franchise changing given this draft. Would not want to see them with Caleb, Marvin Harrison and whatever they in turn flip Fields for.
-
Would anybody kick the tires on Trevor Bauer? Given his off the field incidents it wouldn't look good from a PR standpoint but from an on the field standpoint it could be a good get. He apparently dominated in Japan down the stretch and his FB is reportedly back up to topping at over 99mph so the stuff is all the way back. Im guessing he could be had for a lot less than some of the top guys but could end up giving you similar results.

Ill admit Ive been clamoring for more Gibbs touches but looking at it rationally the Lions prob have used him perfectly from a workload and future performance standpoint. They can't say they lost any games this year due to how Gibbs was used and now he is far fresher than he otherwise would be for the second half of the season. Don't know if the data confirms this but the narrative has always been that rbs, in particular rookie rbs break down in the second half and their performance suffers due to the punishment that they have taken throughout the year, well Gibbs hasnt had that same workload so theoretically that shouldn't be a concern for him.
