  1. Maton on pace for 30+ HRs yet still only has a .375 slugging. lol I'd imagine if that were to actually hold up it would be far and away the lowest slugging for a 30HR season in history.
  2. Boyd still plagued by the HR ball, some things will never change.
  3. I wonder if that was either a missed hit and run or if Haase thought the dropped ball by the catcher rolled farther away from him than it did so he tried advancing on it on his own. Definitely doesn't make sens to send Haase on a straight steal there.
  4. Maton blasts a 3 run HR so atleast the start to the innings wasn't all for naught!
  5. lol start the inning with 3 straight walks and single and it nets them runners on the corners with 2 outs and no runs scored. Only this freaking team man I swear.
  6. The automated zone is 3d right and not just the front of the plate? If so I don't see how it wouldn't be able to get horizontal or vertical breaking pitches right.
  7. Haase works a leadoff walk, lets see how the top of the order follows.
  8. Tork with the leadoff single only to be erased by the prerequisite Miggy groundball double play.
  9. What's up with the sound? It sounds like they have the audio just centered on a small gathering of people by the Tigers on deck circle.
  10. I'm sure the rule will be changed im the future or at the least the punishment less severe but it won't happen to after the Lions players serve their suspensions of course.
  11. To me Tillman appears to be a perfect fit for our future x receiver. He may not fill the Jamo void as the burner that can kill defenses with the crossing route or going vertical but I think he would thrive as the guy that could move the chains for us by bringing in tough contested balls on the sidelines. Also has the ability to go deep and get up and get the ball at its high point. Btw Raymond started to be a decent deep threat towards the end of the season so perhaps he can help fill that role till Jamo gets back. It may look like a terrible guy to be comped to now but I think Tillman could be alot like Kenny G was for us when he was healthy and at his best.
  12. As much as Green gets under my skin he is one of if not the very best defensive players in recent memory, and by recent memory I mean atleast the last 25 or so years.
  13. Yeah if I was in Bridgewaters camp Id def wait till post draft to sign with a team unless I got some Godfather offer that I didn't want to risk losing and while it may have been a strong offer I don't think the Lions offer was like that.
  14. After several years of doing the stupid thing I didn't realize until tonight that it was called "pick the stick", I always thought it was "pick to stick" which never made sense to me. lol
  15. Sounds like Derrick Henry is going to the Eagles. I put this here cause I thought they would be the most likely landing spot for Bijan if we passed on him at 6 but now that may not be the case and we may be able to get him at 18 if we are interested in him.
  16. I want Carter just cause I think he potentially has the most upside to help us immediately but with that said even though I personally think that it's not like he is a Suh, McCoy or Warren Sapp like level prospect, hell he may be not even be Nick Fairley level atleast according to all the pundits pre draft grades so it's not unreasonable to pass on him if you have some doubt about his off the field issues. It's not like teams passing on a once in a decade plus type WR in Randy Moss because of it.
  17. It may or may not be a dumb rule but either way it is a rule and as a player you have to know you have to abide by them.
  18. Wow that is a terrible way to lose it. On a side note can't believe Smyly is still around and pitching well, he has carved out a really good career for himself. Also crazy that he is still only 33 years old so he may still have a few years left in him. To think at one point we had JV, Max, Price, Sanchez, Porcello, Smyly and Robbie Ray all on the team at the same time.
  19. I know everybody hates "retreads" but are there any out there that we should consider or should it just be some hot assistant?
  20. Yeah we rent our main field out to other schools so it gets used quite a bit during football season and we also use it for soccer so when we were told 10 years I'm not sure if they factored that in. If you go to the practice field which doesn't get the same amount of use it's like night and day despite being installed the same time. I know our maintenance department takes care of it the best they can but they have so many other jobs besides maintaining the field so I'm sure it doesn't get the same attention to detail that an NFL team does. But all I can say if an NFL field is anywhere close to how ours looks and feels right now I can understand the players not liking it.
  21. I tend to agree on Carter, maybe not huge mistake but I think it's something that very well could come back to haunt them. With that said we also have to consider the fact that if they do pass on him it might not entirely be because of the off the field issues. They may just not think as a player he is head and shoulders above the rest of the DTs. Just using a quick scenario, lets say they plan on going DT and CB with their first 2 picks. Using NFL Draft Buzz scores for these players you could get Carter who is a 91.9 and Emmanuel Forbes at 18 who is an 87.8. You have a total grade of 179.7. OTOH you could go Witherspoon at 6 who has a 90 grade and Breese at 18 who they grade at 88.1 for a total of 178.1. So hypothetically if you go by these grades you get a 1.6 extra score with your 1st 2 picks. That's not insignificant but it's also not a huge difference particularly if you do worry about Carter's off the field stuff. This of course is just 1 sites grades but maybe the Lions have similar scores or even closer ones on their board?
  22. On the topic of Field Turf, that stuff is extremely dangerous if it has years of wear on it. I don't know how often NFL teams change it but at my School District I work at we got field turf installed in 2014, we were told we'd have to replace it in 10 years it hasn't even hit that and we are already in the process of replacing before the upcoming football season because of how beat up it is. You might as well be playing on concrete at this point.
  23. I don't think there is like a rule or anything its just a matter of not wanting to haul that much payload. I watched videos on YT from behind the scenes of various equipment managers and what it takes to get ready for a road game and there's a lot more work than one would even think about. During it they mention that they check the forecasts beforehand and bring the stuff they feel they are going to need for that and nothing more. They also mention the difficulties of finding the right spikes and trying to guess what the field is going to play like that day to make sure you bring the right ones. I'm wanting to say it was the Giants or Jets that I was watching and they were traveling to KC where they hadn't played in a while and the manager brought up how not being recently familiar with the field was going to be a challenge for them in terms of bringing the right footwear. Considering the Lions only play in Carolina every so often and when you do its rarely cold like it was had to be a major problem. Also the fact that it is the one outlying game of the last couple months makes me think that even more.
  24. They didn't, they admitted they didn't bring the right footwear cause they underestimated what the temp was gonna be and what the field was gonna be like. That's why when people say things like "they play on the same field" it isn't exactly fair cause the home team has all the equipment they need right there where as the road team is limited to the amount of stuff they bring.
