Have made some major upgrades at just about every position on the field with the only losses possibly being WR if they lose Chark. And even if that were to happen I'm confident they will get a suitable replacement in the draft plus also barring injury will have a full season of Jamo should offset any loss we would get from going from Chark to a rookie WR.

I love it, provides that much more options and flexibility in the secondary, also provides some insurance if Joseph regresses or Walker isn't fully recovered from his injury.

I mean its not like I'm going to lose sleep over USA losing but it has felt weird the last couple nights watching them having a real rooting interest in a baseball team that is playing in a playoff like environment. Been almost a decade since I can say that.

At first despite the Pistons wearing the home whites I thought it may have been taken in Miami Arena until I saw way too many Pistons merch in the stands for that to be the case. Then I was like "oh yeah LCA had red seats at first". -

Ahh the early red seat beginnings of LCA. I actually forgot about that until seeing this pic. -
I heard on the radio that some QBs like to wait till after the draft to sign which makes sense, especially with the Lions sitting at 6. I mean what if they indeed did draft a QB then that may push the veteran down to the 3rd spot or at best give him a short leash if he did get in the game.

Clowney is the cautionary tale of putting too much stock in physical tools and not actual production cause his production was never elite.

Has nothing to do with this game but just saw this on twitter and damn is this impressive. Yeah he was shaded a bit to that side but still I'm willing to bet a good chunk of current pros wouldn't have made that play. -
Circling back to Anderson real quick, out of curiosity I wanted to see how he graded to prior prospects and using Scouts inc.(unfortunately that's the only one I'm a member to) his 95 has only been topped 3 times in the past 10 drafts and none since 2016. The players were Leonard Floyd with a 96, Khalil Mack with a 96 and Clowney with a 98. There hasn't been any that matched that 95 since Chase Young in 2020 and before him Nick Bosa and Myles Garrett so he's in elite company and not your standard top prospect.

Isn't Hooker supposed to miss most of this coming season? And while I like Richardson as a prospect he is just that a prospect and shouldn't see the field for atleast a season so I wouldn't consider him a reliable backup if he had to get thrown into duty if something were to happen to Goff. Despite Goff's durability thus far I am of the camp of wanting a better backup just in case something were to happen. I feel like we have a real solid squad and I don't want our season to be ruined if Goff were to get some freak injury that sidelined him for a month or 6 weeks. Of course there is the mentality of crossing that bridge when it comes even if it means giving up draft capital for a team's backup.

Badgeley back with the Lions, a little disappointing cause I would have liked somebody that was more proven but I guess he has been automatic from inside the 40 so he atleast has that. Considering the Lions aggressive nature on 4th downs in the 30-50 yard line I guess they don't care as much about his percentages from there since they probably don't plan to be kicking much anyway.

2023 Detroit Tigers Spring Training Thread

After news of his back at such a young age along with inferior stuff this past year and Jobe is definitely on my not counting on anything list. And yeah he's basically how I felt about Perez after his 2nd or 3rd injury here. -
I will say after thinking about it a little more one thing that gives me a little hesitation about dealing a 1st next year is I think next year Is the year I would target your young qb of the future(if the Lions do feel that Goff isn't that) and without a 1st that would make it damn near impossible.
-
Id definitely prefer Buddha's deal and would do that in a heartbeat but if they insisted on it being 6 and a 1st next year I don't think I would pass it up but that's just cause I feel Anderson is in his own tier and I want to collect top tier players even if it means losing a hopefully/likely late 1st in the future. Now if Holmes is of the view that there is no or very little diff between him and say Wilson then yeah makes no sense to trade up.
-
To each their own but to me I could see Anderson making a Micah Parsons like impact right out of the gate. Well maybe not to that extent but you get the picture. He's been viewed as a premium All Pro like prospect since he stepped foot on college so no reason to suddenly back pedal on that. Dude has 35 sacks, 60 TFLs in 41 games while playing in the toughest conference and division in college football.
-
I haven't looked ahead to 25 but I know the Lions have a ton of space next year so the 7.3 shouldn't be a factor at all which is prob why they back loaded it in the first place.
-
I'm surprised we haven't heard anything on Vaitai yet unless he is one of those guys where they save alot more if he is cut June 1st and theyre just waiting till then.
-
Evan did fine when he filled for Ragnow but iirc the metrics weren't too kind of his guard play and since that's probably where he would be playing I think the Lions just felt Glasgow would be an upgrade.
-
I think Anderson is the exception, this time last year he was seen as a generational defensive prospect but then he has a slightly down year and people just forget about it.
-
Actually I want to change that a bit, I would actually consider trading a future 1st if thats what it took to get Anderson. Reason being first and foremost I think he is a notch above his peers and perhaps a couple notches above where they are RIGHT NOW and he's definitely the guy in the class that could make a Hutch or better like impact in 23 which is what I'm looking for. A guy like Wilson on the other hand I think will be more like a Walker or KT was this year, that's not to say in the end he won't be equal or better but I think he wont make near the impact in the beginning. Also I'm banking on us being good so that pick should be in the 20s atleast which makes it easier to part with.
-
I think I'm in the camp of trading up to insure you get Anderson(as long as it isn't too crazy like 18 or a future 1st) then go Johnston at 18 if he's there if not either the top CB or maybe top ILB like Jack Campbell but that may be a little too much of a reach.. I assume we'd have to give up atleast 1 of the 2nds to get Anderson so whatever one we don't trade Id be looking at a possible long term guard solution if there is a quality guy available. 6th - get Anderson 18th - Johnston, CB or Campbell 2nd rd. Oline After that I really don't care what direction we go.

On the flip side I think it's been about 16 seasons in a row the Wizards finished right at .500 ....or atleast it seems like it.

So he'll miss most of if not all of this year with back problems, and even assuming that doesn't pop up again(unlikely) with the spin he generates and torque he puts on his elbow you just feel that it's a matter of time before TJ comes knocking and he loses a season or 2 to that as well. -

I like the pitch clock but would also be in favor of increasing the number a bit in late innings/high leverage situations but not sure how exactly you would define that.
