  1. For the record Im apprehensive about giving up assets and draft capital just for the right to give him the most or 2nd most guaranteed money ever(which is what I think it would take to get to sign him) considering the history of running qbs.
  2. I wonder if they could negotiate some trade between the teams? I saw something on espn earlier that floated a Goff, 18th pick and one of our 2nd rounders for Lamar. In that article they said that getting Goff would be an asset for the Ravens and easily offset the extra 1st they other wise would receive if they just let him walk to another team.
  3. No his struggles haven't all been due to bad luck but it is almost to the point of being comical how unfortunate his luck has been, especially this spring. Its got to be frustrating as a player.
  4. So when Ford Field hosts any outside events do the Lions or Fords see any of that money?
  5. So what you're saying is that if we signed him to the new contract(let's say the Carr 4/150) it would start this year not when his current deal is up? If so Id definitely be ok with that especially if we could get out a year or 2 early.
  6. I don't know if we'd be able to swing it but if we could get Edmunds and one of the CBs preferably Dean that would be a dream scenario for me.
  7. If they dont extend him that means they have him under control for 3 seasons right? The 2 left on his contract then a franchise year if we choose? If that is the case that gives us a couple more drafts/offseasons after this one to find a replacement before he is potentially going to cost huge money so that is just another reason why I don't want a qb this draft. Just wait a little down the road so you're not wasting his cheap years.
  8. If the Lions truly believe in Goff it probably would be in their best interest to sign him now before the market gets really out of hand with Lamar Jackson or Joe Burrow extensions.
  9. Could Ja just say it wasn't his gun but somebody he met up with or knew in Denver? Seems like the only way you can get around explaining that you didn't bring it on the team plane.
  10. Catching Jayson Stark's eye, I guess he didnt get the memo that Boyd has gotten off to solid starts a million times only to collapse around June.
  11. The radio was saying per Rich Eisen that Brady didn't actually file for retirement and is still an official FA. He added that Miami seems to be the most probable explanation. After hearing that some folks suggested that it could be because the player actually retiring won't be Brady but Tua due to the multiple head injuries he has already suffered in his young career. That would be a major turn of events.
  12. That was my main reasoning for not wanting to draft Fields, that and I did want to see if Goff could be resurrected.
  13. I'm getting to the point where I either want them to trade up to insure Anderson or just trade back if they can.
  14. Houston does have alot of draft capital atleast from the Harden trade right or is it just pick swaps that are left?
  15. Agreed. If you want to draft one for on field reasons Id still disagree but I could still understand it but I just don't understand the money thing. If there was a true hard cap that there was no way to circumvent and the contract was going to prevent you from fielding any good pieces around him then maybe Id get it, but that isn't the case.
  16. I'm still of the philosophy that you role with Goff until his contract or play on the field gives you a reason to move on and right now neither is. Maybe it will be in two years but guess what you can add a qb then if you want. Until then just continue to build your team so you have more young pieces to not only aid you short term but can also be of help to fall back on if you can't sign everybody. For example if you draft a good receiver this year and he pans you may choose not to pay St. Brown a ton of money when that time comes since you will have that receiver and Jamo waiting in the wings.
  17. Turn on the game and I see Wiseman air ball like a 10 footer followed by Livers only hitting the backboard on an open 3 while the Pistons trail 10-0. Yeah that's enough for me to turn this one off for now.
  18. I could possibly see Will Anderson sliding to the Lions but it probably would take Chicago trading all the way back to say Carolina's spot whether that be in one trade or trading back twice. Then you'd just need the 4 QBs to go off the board and have somebody like the Cardinals fall in love with somebody else. Not an impossible scenario but would be a good one for the Lions. Like I said before if Anderson is gone and all the QBs are gone so you are unlikely to be able to trade back then I'm basically open to picking anybody or position at 6.
  19. Duh my brain read it as Robinson. Damn Mondays but yeah I agree about Richardson I def put it at more than 50/50 he is gone by 6.
  20. That would mean the Lions will be picking him cause I don't see anybody in front of them drafting one and Im skeptical in this day and age a team would be willing to trade up for a RB.
  21. Damn that's the worst news I've heard all day. Hopefully it gets fixed cause it's a pain having to click on the link everytime.
  22. The Saints have seemingly been in "cap hell" since Obama's 1st term yet always seem to be able to keep whatever good player they want or sign FAs. Whoever their Cap guy is deserves a raise for always creating these ways to manipulate their space.
  23. For us that is probably the best scenario since NO doesnt have a 1st this year so it was unlikely they'd be able to trade up for a qb unlike say the Panthers.
