  1. A year or two ago Id probably still advocate taking Carter assuming nothing more comes out but after seeing the benefits of having the right culture and guys in the locker room Im now more apprehensive about possibly disrupting that with a bad seed.
  2. I tend to agree and while arguably being the top talent in this draft I don't think he is this uber talent that may be worth the risk. He isn't a Suh, McCoy, Donald or quinnen William type talent. Imo
  3. Regardless if there is any legit interest it plays into the Lions hands to atleast put the thought in other teams heads that they may go qb. That way a team behind us may feel the need to trade up and jump us to get a qb which would open the door for another non qb prospect falling to us.
  4. I think as long as you can continue to draft well the cap should never be a worry. When the time comes up to pay players you don't have to pay them all if you draft well, pick and choose the guys you feel you can't replace then just let the others walk and replace them with the rookie scale players you drafted. Of course this sounds great in theory but isn't that easy to actually do.
  5. It may just be lip service on management's part. They may not want to go public that they are in the market for big name/expensive guys, if you openly say that and then you don't end up getting any of those guys it makes you look bad.
  6. I know the popular pick by many outsiders is us taking a corner at 6 but I'm skeptical of it. It's obviously a huge need but looking at the depth there with so many having 1st round projections I could see Holmes waiting to 18 to grab one. The only exception would be if they do have a clear cut guy that they want and feel that he is better than the rest.
  7. Just heard on the radio that the last time the Pistons beat the Bulls they featured a lineup with Blake, Reggie Jackson and Jon Leuer, so yeah it's been awhile.
  8. Yep. I also think she deserves credit for being patient and not doing anything drastic after following the 3 win season with a 1-6 start heading into the bye week. When many Lions fans were calling for Campbell's head and reporters questioned her about it she said she was disappointed with the record but could see things were moving in the right direction and had complete confidence in Dan and Holmes. Didn't make any threats or say something that may have put people on edge.
  9. CBS just put out their latest mock and first that I've seen online since the Carter news broke and they have him sliding to 17 to the Steelers. Barring any other news coming out about the situation or him in general I'd say that's around where I'd peg him to go too, somewhere in the middle of the first. BTW they have the Colts trading up to 1 to grab Anthony Richardson. That makes no sense to me given the Colts current situation and Richardson's rawness. I think the Colts have a pretty solid squad and they'd be much better served taking a Stroud or Young(if they're not concerned about his size), they need somebody that can come in and help in the next couple years while they still have the squad they do. No need to waste that on a developmental QB who unless makes a monumental improvement is going to take a couple seasons until he contributes. To me the team that drafts Richardson either has to have a reliable QB in place or be in the opening stages of the rebuild and content with be being bad for a couple years. I don't think the Colts fit neither of those.
  10. I don't know about other teams but Id but the chances of the Lions drafting him at next to 0. I just don't see any way Holmes risks letting a possible bad apple infiltrate the culture that they built. Also after preaching the importance of character it would be extremely hypocritical and not come off good to use a high pick on a guy like that.
  11. They may beable to cross that bridge when the time comes via trade or FA pickup but I do think they need an upgrade at backup qb if Goff were to ever go down. I'm talking about a shorter absence like 3-5 weeks not necessarily 10+ week absence cause in that case were probably screwed no matter who we had. But if it's say 5 weeks Id like to have somebody with the ability to may be win us 2 to 3 games so our division/playoff hopes don't totally go up in flames with any sorta Goff injury.
  12. Yeah no way this management drafts him now even if he does fall to us. Would go against everything they have preached and built the last couple years.
  13. Jim Kosta of 97.1 is still preaching drafting a qb due to Goff being in line for an extension in a couple years. To me that is the dumbest reason to draft a qb. For starters Goff already has a high cap hit and were building a team around him just fine, at most an extension may add what 10 million to the cap?(Im pretty ignorant to the cap so I genuinely don't know) Another reason is you don't have to cross that bridge till the time comes. Yeah we may not be picking 6 again but that doesnt mean we wouldn't be able to draft a qb if we wanted to,it just may take trading up. Finally its not like any of these qbs in this class are viewed as can't miss, every year save for 2022 you get a bunch of similarly viewed or better qbs so no need to press the panic button now. Now if you genuinely believe Goff is going to regress and believe say Stroud, Richardson or Levis are the real deals and will outperform him than sure draft a qb but it seems like most people in the qb camp don't necessarily feel that way.
  14. I also think it's lazy to just assume they wouldn't have won the SB without the Stafford trade. The Rams got extremely fortunate on who they had to face in the playoffs in their run. The best team they faced was an injured Bucs team. They didn't have to go through any truly elite teams like most teams do on their way to a SB.
  15. Not sure if it's been mentioned but the Lions announced they are unveiling an alternate helmet for the 23 season. Also they announced the new jerseys/logo will be getting pushed back to 24. No details on either of them but Rod Wood said they will be more drastic than the changes in 2017.
  16. It sure would've been nice to squeeze 1 more 1st out of them in that Stafford trade cause even if he comes back healthy next year I still think they are a bottom third team at best.
  17. On the subject of defense, how reliable are the advanced defensive stats and which one is best? As a baseball fan I know many folks still don't put complete stock in them, was wondering if basketball was the same.
  18. I love what Houston brought us but call me skeptical about the performance going forward. Not saying he isn't going to be good but fair or not I will always be skeptical of a late pick like that until they have a bigger sample size. I also wonder how much he benefited from being fresher than his competitors.
  19. Theres pictures out there from commercials they did together and Kyler Murray actually appeared taller than Bryce Young standing next to him, not to mention Murray is built like a tank and Young a bean pole. Maybe Young has grown since that shoot but if not I just don't see how a team could take him in the top 5 let alone trading up picks to do so. That's way too big of a risk for me.
  20. We're 5 games back in the win column with 20 to play, I think at best the Pistons go 7-13 but more than likely it will be like 5-15 at best so as long as Charlotte doesnt go something like 2-18 they should be fine.
  21. A loss here would put us 5 games behind Charlotte for the 4th spot with just 20 games remaining. So barring a big run or collapse by Charlotte we'd all but guarantee a bottom 3 spot.
  22. I don't care if it's only Spring Training I still take joy in beating the Yankees.
  23. Pistons aren't messing around tonight, they want to make sure they lose this crucial tank game. The Thunder would be proud.
