I like Fields alot more than most but the thing that teams have to keep in mind is historically guys of his play style tend to get worse with time since they essentially play like RBs.

Aside from JJ playing better it would be nice if Corum or Edwards could break a big run, probably the most surprising thing all season is how few of them they have this year especially Edwards. I'm having a hard time thinking of any 25 or so plus yard runs he has this year. Corum had the one right after the Zinter injury but not many more himself either.

I mentioned in the Raptors thread just how much had to go right just for the Pistons to eek out a 2pt win at home against a Raptors team that just traded one of their best players and didn't get to suit the players they got in return so yeah it's hard to envision them winning a whole lot more unless they catch teams on their bad shooting nights.

Week Eighteen: Minnesota Vikings (7-9) @ Detroit Lions (11-5)
RandyMarsh replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
I don't particularly like the idea of going into the playoffs losing 2 straight games and it would be kinda cool to win 12 games since that hasn't happened since 91 but I guess long term their best hopes of winning a playoff game(s) comes with being as close to healthy as they can be so in that regards it's probably best for them to not play all your key guys for the whole game. I'd like to see Hooker get extended action, just to see some semblance of what we might have there but with Teddy coming out and saying it's his last year something tells me that even if we were to rest Goff in this one that Dan will probably give Teddy most if not all of the reps since it could be his last time seeing NFL action. -
USFL + XFL = UFL. No, not that UFL, a new UFL.

Yeah the thought of something like this being a minor league type system for the NFL is often brought up and it does sound good in theory but in reality like you said football is too much of a violent sport for it to really be feasible. You would need to have it run the same time the NFL does so the guys would either be playing there OR in the NFL but of course that would never happen cause it wouldn't make financial sense for them to try to compete for viewers with the NFL and CFB on at the same time. -
Week Seventeen: Detroit Lions (11-4) @ Dallas Cowboys (10-5)
RandyMarsh replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
I do want to say that I think it is worth noting that Dallas did have all their timeouts and a kicker that hasn't missed all year with 60+ yard range so its still not a sure thing the Lions would've won anyway. Obviously doesn't excuse the call though. BTW after seeing Dan's "interview" and how upset he was I do wonder if that played a factor in him still going for 2 despite the penalty. To do it initially was imo a good tactical move but scoring from the 3 vs. the 8 is a big difference. Like say I wonder if the Lions would've done a false start on that first play that pushed them back 5 yards would he still have elected to go for it? -

They lined up SKipper at guard so that immediately makes him inelegible to catch a pass, you think the official would've put two and two together and realized it wasn't him that reported. -

Looking at the replays and I do think the Lions got screwed but maybe I'm being naive but I don't think the ref did it on purpose. I think Decker clearly told him he was reporting as eligible but it does look like Skipper came running onto the field at the same time so the ref took it as Skipper. -

Agree, especially since the Lions defense had shown some ability to stop Dallas not like the Seattle game earlier this year where I wouldn't want to depend on my defense to make a stop at all. -

They just showed a replay on Sportscenter that shows Goff grab Decker and point towards the official, Decker then goes and walks towards the official. -

Yep, also even if the play did work I don't know if your best probability of winning is depending on a tackle who best of my recollection has never caught a ball in an NFL game to be the one you go to when the game is completely on the line. That's not like the Sewell play last year where the play was just to seal the game, this was for all the marbles. -

I agreed with going for it initially but after the penalty I would've kicked it. -

Goff certainly made a bad throw and the defender made a great play but again those short out patterns like that are just such a low percentage play, at best you gain 5 yards, the risk reward just isn't there. -

Huge sack by Hutch cause you know otherwise they wouldve went for it on 4th down and knowing us likely converted. -

Probably would've been better off if Sutton didn't play this game. Jeez I know Lamb is arguably the toughest cover in the NFL but jeez he's just getting abused.
