  1. Wasn't Gruden's deal with the Raiders 10/100? I feel like the top coaches are making 20+. I honestly didn't think $15 million is that unreasonable.
  2. Ben Johnson hasn't proven he can run a top offense without Jared Goff.
  3. This is his agent.
  4. It could also mean he's not interested in being a head coach kind of like Monty Williams. Not sure there is a Tom Gores in the NFL.
  5. The Vikings defense ranks dead last in completion percentage. Their blitzing allows for short passing and the rank near the bottom in DVOA to passes to RBs and TEs. They are also one of the worst defenses on passes over the middle. All areas where the Lions thrive. Get the ball out quickly to Gibbs or Montogomery in the flat and let them break tackles.
  6. Should have yelled out Jameson and threw something at him to see if he caught it or dropped it.
  7. Do not ask him to place a wager on the game. I repeat, do not bet on the game.
  8. I think the two 1,000 yard rushers is more likely than 1,000 yard receivers. I don't know if Laporta will be able to average enough.
  9. Sewell showed up on the injury report with a shoulder injury. He was limited but not out of practice.
  10. The best part of the McNeil pick is how the Eagles tried to be cute and lost out on him.
  11. Trevor Lawrence has kind of been a disappointment. He's still not this generational QB.
  12. I wonder how Jones would have developed in San Francisco? Jones looked promising his rookie year but then he gets Matt Patricia has his offensive coordinator and hasn't been the same since. He's someone I would take a flyer on as a backup or bridge QB.
  13. I forget who it was, but someone melted down over passing on Fields for Sewell.
  14. Look at the Lions 2021 draft. Sewell and St Brown are foundational players. McNeil has really come into his own this year and was a plus starter and someone who looked worthy of a second contract. After getting nothing from Melifonwu, he has come on lately. Barnes has been a solid contributor in year three. Jefferson was a typical 7th round pick who is practice squad fodder. Levi is the only bust.
  15. The Lions didn't need a tackle either. They had many more areas to address but they still drafted the best player and swung him to the right side and have an elite unit.
  16. Sewell also just turned 23. He's in his 3rd year in the league and is only 23.
  17. Keep in mind Sewell has played multiple games at both left and right tackle this year.
  18. I think underrated part of Holmes job has been his ability to move on from veteran players. It started first with not signing Golladay, then Jamaal Williams and Hockenson.
  19. I take this quote by Staley as basically the Lions wanted him to toughen up. "So this offseason, Staley gave Swift a challenge: “Hey man, you’ve got to fight through some things.” The objective is clear. Staley needs Swift to stay as healthy as possible, but he can’t back down when the relatively minor bumps and bruises come. “We all know there’s a difference in being injured and hurt,” Staley explained. “As soon as you step in this building as a running back—Day 1 of training camp—you’re not going to feel the same. So there are going to be some things he’s going to have to fight through, and he’s going to have to work through that.”
  20. I wonder if Swift is playing through injury more than in Detroit because it's a contract year? I remember either Campbell or Staley seemed to insinuate that Swift wasn't tough enough.
  21. One thing that strikes me is the Lions defense compares very well to the Vikings except for red zone efficiency. That is the only reason the Vikings are giving up fewer points. I also wonder what Minnesota's offensive production looks like post Kirk Cousins?
  22. I think Williams would have had a better season in Detroit, but Montgomery is a lot better than I thought he was. Williams had the luxury of playing behind some good lines in Detroit and Green Bay. Montgomery was putting up the same production as Williams with a bad line.
  23. Only Swift and Elliott are having good seasons.
