  1. In recent experience, it seems like the Tigers' version should be called the kennel, 'cuz everyone out there is a dog <rimshot>
  2. This. I'm generally on the players' side and I think this is a terrible idea. It will ensure only that some team pays some guys who don't deserve it.
  3. Many years ago, both MLB and MiLB had their own winter meetings, sometimes in two separate locations. Later they sort of merged into one event. SABR has a great two-volume set about the winter meetings. They have some great stories and info
  4. I don't like po-ems I do like the Tigers, tho two whiskey sours please
  5. Definitely this. Rogers had almost exactly the same number of ABs in 2019 when many thought he was a bust as he had before his injury in 2021.
  6. That's a great thing. I remember being flabbergasted when I used to go to Lugnuts games and would read about volunteer "host families" in the program. Initially, of course, I thought of the guys signing for big bonuses and wondered why they needed housing but all the other guys making dick had to scrounge. Glad that will not be the case moving forward.
  7. so you're saying he'll play for the Tigers for free?
  8. octogenerial buggywhip happy birthday to jim price
  9. i always theorized (though it was mostly my speculation) that the Florida MLB teams never gained much traction because many people in FL had allegiance to whatever their favorite spring training team was, not some johnny-come-lately expansion team. it would make sense that this would fade as the marlins and (devil) rays gain seniority but that hasn't impacted their attendance
  10. I think writing Baddoo into the OF in ink is probably a bit hasty. As much as I like him and as good as he's been, he hasn't been as good in the second half as he was in the first, and at this point in his young career I don't think we have good reason to think that he won't be the player he's been in the second half rather than the one he was in teh first. Maybe he'll adjust, maybe the league has figured him out for good, I don't think we know yet.
  11. he could not, however, get an umpire to accurately call him (or at least his jersey) being hit by a pitch in game 163. sigh
  12. Legit question and not being a smart ass, if MLB isn't happening would Toledo (and all the other affiliated teams) even be playing?
  13. I hope that at some point on the weekend the circumstances are just right for buyring a fastball in Merrifield's ribs *twice*
  14. Perhaps our hometown nine will look at the uniform colors of the visitors, think they're the Dodgers, and thus play better
  15. At the risk of some russians or something stealing my identity, i will reveal that, if you guessed I was 38 as the midpoint of your range, you would be off by 20%. i was too old to attribute liking the tiger busting through the D to being a dumb kid. maybe just a guy with bad taste
  16. Yes, and an orange bill. I know I'm in the minority but i still like that logo (though I don't want them wearing it at home). I still have my plastic tiger stadium soda cups with that logo on them
  17. i think of myself as a traditionalist but i wouldn't mind different color jerseys as long as it is strictly on the road. i hated/still hate the change to the home jersey D a couple years ago. The mismatching between the hat and jersey was part of the charm. and the tigers tried to say MLB was mandating it to enforce logo uniformity. but the yankees jersey NY and hat NY still don't match
  18. Uniwatch had a post today about the Tigers focus-grouping some throwback uniforms, including a 70s style road uniform and a 1968-style road uniform.
