  1. this is exactly how i came to follow the cubs as a teenager. i still keep an eye on them
  2. Tork and Greene are looking better but I'm still looking for more power from Tork in particular. I don't mean to rain on anybody's parade or downplay their improvement but the Tigers need power from 1B and we're still waiting on that
  3. RHP Luis Ortiz v RHP Michael Lorenzen. Ortiz has started one game, went 5 IP and gave up 2 R with 1 BB and 1 SO
  4. Darnell Coles was part of the 1986 all-20 HR infield, which was a big deal at the time
  5. RH Bryce Miller v RH Alex Faedo . . . on Star Wars Day
  6. Matchup of lefties with Marco Gonzales against Matthew Boyd. Gonzalez gave up 3 ER in 6 IP his last time out vs. Houston.
  7. I tend to think we could get more for Eduardo by trading him sooner rather than later. A starting pitcher is one of the biggest difference-makers for a team in contention or trying to move from the edge of contention into the race. An earlier trade results in more starts for the new team. Obviously you have to have a willing partner, but if I'm in Harris' shoes, I am opening up shop sooner rather than later.
  8. I continue to really dislike Wainwright for a broad spectrum of reasons
  9. yeah, a couple lofts to the OF and O's have runs. They have to get to Cyson Rodriguez
  10. that was my concern with calling szhibitmboeroiaserski wrong already
  11. they're at five, i wouldn't go thining szymborski is wrong just yet
  12. Robbie Ray is out for the season. I would say that may add Seattle to St. Louis as potential suitors in trade for Eduardo if he continues to pitch well.
  13. to be clear, i'm not mocking Tork's exit velo numbers, but there has to be more to the story. he's hitting the ball hard. did all through ST and 22 games or whatever we are into the season. the results aren't there. seems like hitting it hard isn't enough and there's something else he needs to do. to the extent that this reflects my ire, it's because he does seem so close, yet he isn't there. Greene just isn't good right now, so it is less maddening.
  14. I get it, but the 'he's hitting it hard' routine is wearing on me
  15. If that proves true, whoever was hoping for Javy to opt out, forget about whatever chance there may have been
  16. I was in Chicago a few years back when the Brewers swept the Tigers to close out the season (2019, I think?) and keep the Cubs out of the playoffs. There was a lot of bitching about the Tigers in Wrigleyville that weekend. I kept saying to people, WTF did you expect
  17. I think they do leave him in, he's been good and is already throwing. I don't think they'll burn another guy if they don't have to
