  1. I wonder if Mike McDaniel is safe or not? I think he’s great and a breath of fresh air but he’s super quirky and often times just plain awkward. That’s fine when you win but not so much when you have back to back 2nd half collapses. If it becomes apparent that Harbaugh is finally leaving Michigan, will Stephen Ross really let him get away and potentially to an AFC competitor like LAC or LVR?
  2. If he has any interest in the NFL, I’m not sure a better opportunity will come along than the Chargers job. That can be a very quick turnaround for him with Herbert entering his prime and some nice defensive weapons.
  3. 6’3 is fine height and 205 pounds while lighter is not out so out of the ordinary. Bryce Young and Kyler Murray both went 1-1 at a smaller size. I think if there is any NFL question on him, it’s the lack of times they have asked him to throw the ball downfield in this offense. Which I’m not sure how that changes if he comes back for another year at Michigan. I think he’s a top 10 pick easily in this draft. Throws really well on the run, stronger arm than you may expect, and appears be a smart, composed kid and good leader. Too many teams need QB’s not to take a shot with him.
  4. If JJ does leave, what is UM plan at QB next year? Is it Orji uncontested or are their other options? Not sure if anyone quality is available in the portal still but there is another window in May after spring ball.
  5. JJ needs to leave. I’ve heard some call him a “possible” 1st round pick and that is ridiculous. The way this league gushes over QB’s, he’s a top 10 pick right now and probably much higher into the top 5. The UM offense doesn’t do much to highlight his pro skills either. He’d start his NFL clock a year earlier and most likely improve his development. He would be taking a huge risk to come back. For almost the exact opposite reasons, Donovan Edwards needs to stay. As I mentioned a while back, Will Johnson needs to find a few lawyers to challenge the NFL draft rules and see if enough time has passed to break down that door. He’s a top 5 pick now and is forced to come back.
  6. Will Howard is a big question mark. I like McCord better.
  7. Mike Florio is reporting that Caleb Williams representatives have begun talks with the Bears. He has asked for a few minor accommodations: - The Chicago dog will no longer be served anywhere in the city with a pickle spear or tomato slice. - He would not only like Cubs season tickets but also have the ability to be the team’s manager whenever he chooses. - The top 20 floors of the Willis Tower are converted to his own personal penthouse. - A 300 foot statue of his likeness is erected in Lake Michigan overlooking what used to be called Navy Pier, which will be renamed Carl’s Pier, in honor of Caleb’s father.
  8. Here’s some Amon Ra high school tape for comparison. Competition is a much higher level than Puka.
  9. Puka’s high school tape was insane. I remember being bummed when he decommitted.
  10. Cooper out there kissing up to 5-0. I hope his game on Sunday is a dead as his street cred.
  11. That’s fair. It’s most likely they were less than $100k apart in negotiations. Which is still tiny in the grand scheme
  12. I wasn’t bringing it up with any regards towards player feelings. It’s seems so cheap and a giant waste of time over essentially nothing. $25k to a MLB team translates to like 25 cents in real world. Why bother?
  13. It’s only $25k. That’s the issue.
  14. Obviously, Belichick and Saban are the two greatest football coaches of this generation. Isn’t Pete Carroll the solid 3rd choice? He dominated in college winning 2 national championships and was a play away from a 3rd. He won a Super Bowl and was another play away from winning 2. An exceptional career for a guy that was essentially a journeyman until he was 50 years old.
  15. Most of the people I’ve talked to in town and heard call in The Ticket seem to think the Lions have this one in the bag because it’s at home and the crowd will be hype.
  16. Nobody here has said anything about the Rams being impossible to overcome. I definitely haven’t seen anyone diminish the strengths of the Lions or even suggest that they will lose. It’s going to be a battle of a game between two good teams.
  17. How weird is it going to be for everyone to be giant Packer fans in the game before. The playoffs make for some strange bedfellows.
  18. If you look at the Lions schedule the same way, what do you see? It’s probably less impressive. Rams are a good football team that’s playing their best ball now. Not sure how that can be denied.
  19. Season stats do not tell an accurate picture of how well the Rams are playing right now.
  20. What’s gone into your thought process to give the Lions a 60/40 advantage?
  21. Some thoughts from Rick Spielman on Caleb Williams as a prospect. He’s a fan.
  22. I’m honestly more than a little worried about this game. Getting lost in the Stafford/Goff angle is that the Rams have been among the hottest teams in the 2nd half. They’ve won 7 of their last 8 games with the only loss being the OT loss at the Ravens. That’s a really impressive stretch. McVay is really smart offensive mind and Kerby Joseph is a really instinctive player that can be baited too easily. I’m afraid they will dial up a few things to take advantage of that aggression. Kerby needs to focus more on being a true free safety and not letting the ball get behind him more than making big plays on pass catchers. We can’t afford any more mental breakdowns in the secondary this week.
  23. I’m glad that at least one member of the Stafford family gets it.
