Technically, the lap was completed under red. Alonso really got lucky with that decision and Haas just can’t buy a break.

The accident wasn’t ideal judgment but that’s not really an issue for me. I’m far more concerned that he essentially skipped the combine and then used the next 2 weeks ahead of his crucial pro day workout to put on 10 pounds and not be fit enough to finish positional workouts. That’s a huge red flag that needs to be overcome and also gives credence to some of those unknown source rumors that we’ve all heard about him. Again, I’d take him at 18 but not willing to take the risk at 6.

Forget the year suspension, having to manage this team is AJ’s real punishment for the Astros cheating scandal. -

Great job to avoid a big inning! -
“The cover up is worse than the crime” has always been understood and accepted when it comes to politicians getting caught abusing their power. There is nothing different with this case for that to change.

The Carter situation is starting to become simple for me. He is completely off the draft board at 6. Not worth the risk that high. If he’s slips all the way down to 18, everyone else is off the board and you take him here. Worth the risk at 18, especially with this being their 2nd first round selection.

If everyone ignores the troll, he will get bored again and leave in a few weeks. Any reply to his memes and links just restarts the clock again.

Gonzalez was a nobody a little over a year ago. He had just transferred to Oregon after being the 2nd best corner on a no good Colorado team. He is a natural safety that came later to being a CB. He had one real good season with the Ducks and an impressive combine and here we are. I’m not saying he’s going to be a bust but I don’t see a guy that you plug in from day 1 and has a good chance of being your starter for the next 8 years. I think he needs more time to develop than a few of the other corners.

Agree. Greene was the only one I listed because he’s our future and this franchise can’t seem to have nice things. I’m not pounding the table saying you guys are wrong and I’m right. I think the possibility of this team being not quite historically bad but in the neighborhood is definitely there and that’s the vibe I’m getting now. -

I did. I said injuries will hit and be bad. I included Greene as one of those. I said the bullpen will be really bad. There’s very little track record of success there and maybe last years success in a similar situation was the anomaly. I said Maton, Vierling, and Meadows will all be failed projects. Schoop and Haase will disappoint. Baez and Tork won’t have significant lift to improve the team. I also think they get off to a very slow start and that makes it tough to build confidence right Maybe (and hopefully) none of this happens and they play closer to 75 or maybe even 80 than they do 60. Who knows but that’s how I’m looking at things now and that was the rationale on my mind when I predicted they only 56. -
Happy Opening Day!

I think this is probably a 65-70 win roster that unfortunately has a bunch of things go all wrong for them. I am definitely in the minority but I’m very meh on Vierling, Maton, and Meadows. While it would be tremendously disappointing, I’m not so sure they won’t be worse than Hittin’ Harold & The Castraii. Look, i’m absolutely not one of the posters that has to be right about everything and is constantly bringing it up trying to pat themselves on the back about some long ago prediction. I am ok being totally wrong about this one. I want to be wrong. Big wrong. It’s just my gut feeling about this team. I also think the absolute train wreck of our other pro teams has probably subconsciously played a role in my thoughts. -

Not surprised. Logically it doesn’t make sense to you. We see illogical events happen all the time in the world and many smart people still can’t accept the possibility that something that shouldn’t happen does either through circumstance, luck, anomaly, or maybe something that can’t be explained. -

I want to be wrong but my gut says that through a combination of bad luck and bad players, the pitching is much worse than ever imagined. I also don’t envision Vierling, Maton, and Meadows being impactful over the course of a long season. Big drop offs from Schoop and Haase aren’t made up by small improvements from Baez and Tork. Greene gets injured again and misses significant time. That’s how I got to 56. -
Matt Nelson thinks you’re a dick.

I really like AT Perry from Wake In the 2nd or 3rd. Great X option.

I predict a 1-9 start that ends in 56 win season. -
Amazing that this is the major league bullpen and not the Mud Hens.
-
Pretty good. It’s a better chorus away from being a really fantastic song.
-
I will adopt the Tigers bullpen. Not anyone like Cisnero, Lange, Whistler, or Shreve. I will adopt the entire physical home bullpen area of Comerica. This includes one of the last working landline phones still in existence as well as a Detroit Cop that sits there to make sure fans don’t heckle and get out of line.
-
Absolutely. In-person medical and physicals by team doctors is a huge part of this process. They can’t do any on field stuff but they can watch film and go over playbook stuff.

The issue isn’t really even about Lamar and more about the request for a fully guaranteed long term contract. It’s something the owners desperately want to avoid becoming the norm. The 3 year fully guaranteed deals to Rodgers and Cousins weren’t their favorite but the shorter term made it easier to take. Only a rogue owner is going offer a long term fully guaranteed deal. It Lamar is really looking for a Watson type deal, there are only a few teams that would even consider it for anybody. If he changes his guaranteed demands then he would have a completely different response from the rest of the league. In fact, Ravens would almost certainly offer him a huge deal to stay.

A fire code can not infringe on the right to own a gun. It’s in the constitution. I understand these codes are made for people’s safety but that’s why we have guns. If you have enough guns, it can deter a fire from starting in the first place. I’m a little surprised that we haven’t started arming firefighters yet but I assume that’s coming.

Can’t leave our Peyton Thorne from MSU. Some are calling him the next Connor Cook.
