Metcalf is probably a bad example. His 40 was off the charts but the 3 cone time was the worst among all WR. There were serious questions about his agility and if he just had straight line speed. He was also coming off injury.

I’m not sure any of the combine numbers will make a real difference for who the Lions select. They have proven to be more about the tape and on field performance than the workout numbers. What it does do for them is set a market value and where they can expect to pick some of the guys they really like. A average combine for a player they like probably helps them a ton. I bet Brad and Co. high five each other when a guy they like on tape turns in a slow time.

Noah Sewell ran 4.72. Not good. Everything else was good but not exceptional. Looks like he’s gonna be 3rd round at best and most likely day 3. Bad for him and good for the Lions.

It also seems they still like Charles Harris and have every intention of keeping him this year. Obviously that could change and he could still be on the cut list but if not they have a deep room at DE. Not sure if that impacts their thought process for someone like Wilson or Murphy at 6.

I assume they will be bringing Edvinsson and Soderblom up once all the smoke clears from the deadline. Time to give them some more experience.

One can assume Tommy Rees was a big factor drawing him to ND. Not shocking that CJ may be keeping some options open since he left for Bama.

Their initial plan had them taking a year more of building the foundation before going out and adding big FA pieces. The weakness in the NFC combined with how they finished last season has opened the window early. I think they should make every effort to explore big moves right now.

I don’t think they need to accumulate offensive defenseman at this point of the rebuild. They have Seider and the rest should be focused on doing the right things with the puck and not making mistakes in the zone. Do your job, stay at home defenseman are what you often need in that 2nd and 3rd pairing to have a good team.

Nobody is saying that Hronek sucks. He’s having a great season but he’s not worth a 1st and a 2nd now. I haven’t found a hockey pundit yet that likes what Vancouver gave up in this trade. I think you and @lordstanleymay be the only people in the world that think this is a fair deal for Canucks.
