  1. Bold predictions for overall record with two months of offseason to go.
  2. My 2023 Detroit Tigers Goals -Bounce-back seasons for Baez, ERod, Meadows and Turnbull -Greene and Tork make significant progress from their disastrous debuts. -Skubal is able to pitch at some point. -Manning and Wentz stay healthy all season and have productive seasons. -Soto establishes some trade value and is dealt at the deadline for a good prospect(s). -Malloy and Wenceel rake at Toledo and are called up at some point. -Jake Rogers earns the majority of playing time at C. -We find out what we have in Baddoo, Carpenter and Kreidler and are willing to move on depending on their performance (I’m not counting on any of them). -Draft the best position player available with our 3rd pick.
  3. Everyone still hungover? We have a game in less than 90 minutes!
  4. Stroud redeeming himself after the clunker against Michigan.
  5. Nice to see Harris working hard on New Year’s Eve—that will endear him to baby Ilitch. But not with Mrs. Harris.
  6. Glad I put off getting a Logue jersey.
  7. But who’s going to do Lion King with Miggy? Kreidler is too tall.
  8. Max Duggan?
  9. A very poor man’s Ohtani. Harold actually makes sense on this team. LH bat, who can fill in at 1B, 2B and 3B and pinch-hit. Just don’t give him more than 200 AB’s.
  10. I think they have Cronenworth scheduled to play at 1B. Even the Padres can’t afford to pay every position player $20M+.
  11. I think the frustration is that fans like to see transactions, just for the sake of making them. That's what makes the offseason more palatable. The guy's hands are tied--we really don't have many players with trade value. I would be onboard with moving some of our young pitchers, i.e., Jobe, Madden, etc..if we can get a position player who is major league ready and can contribute in the long term. Honestly, I wish we had made a few of those moves when Tork, Mize, etc... were in the minors and their trade value was sky high. It's hindsight now, but I don't think we should be shy about moving a prospect if it will help us in other areas. I agree that we need to give Harris some time. Like it or not, this is a 3 year plan now (at least).
  12. yeah, I hate to pile on the guy, but really hope he isn't surrendering this season. Still plenty of time to make more moves, and I suspect he'll make some. We just don't have a track record with the guy, so it's hard to know what to expect. He does deserve the benefit of the doubt, and he shouldn't be forcing moves to just to appease a bunch of cranky dudes in a baseball forum.
  13. Not sure I agree that outfield is an organizational strength, unless we’re putting Keith and Malloy there. Otherwise, I think it’s pretty underwhelming.
  14. We can’t trade Meadows right now—if anything, we need to add another OF. Can’t go into this season hoping that Baddoo or Carpenter will perform enough to start. Heck, there are serious question marks with Riley Greene, though given his pedigree and potential, we should give him 500 AB’s no matter.
  15. can you guys take this nonsense to the Math thread? You're getting in the way of our complaining about management's inactivity.
  16. I’m in favor of letting him clear waivers and picking him up. Checks a couple boxes, if healthy.
  17. Let's hope that Baez puts up a season where his opting out becomes a viable option--I'd be OK with either outcome.
  18. The Rangers rebuild has seriously leaned into free agency--will be interesting to see how successful this strategy will be for them.
  19. The Rangers signed Nate Eovaldi to a 2-year deal, to join deGrom, Odorizzi, Andrew Heaney, who were all acquired this offseason and holdovers Dane Dunning and Martin Perez in the rotation, with Leiter, Rocker and Brock Porter looming.
  20. Harris appears to be accumulating lottery tickets—hopefully one or two will pay off.
  21. They can recycle some jerseys.
  22. It’s being reported that there is interest in Chris Sale. He’s injury-prone and a knucklehead. This tells me three things: 1) There must also be interest in ERod, who is a better bet. 2) Since there are no “reports” about this, or any other Tigers, Mr. Harris and team are incredibly tight-lipped, similar to how DD ran things. 3) #2 is going to drive a lot of folks here into a frenzy.
  23. May Scott Harris make all of your Christmas wishes come true (like a LH, high OPS 3B).
