  1. as long as they can provide a .750 or above OPS for a season or two, I'm good.
  2. well, if we're to take Harris at his word around prioritizing players who have a good knowledge of the strike zone, I think that's what he will strive for.
  3. I'm not the least bit upset losing any of the players we've moved on from. what's Einstein's definition of insanity? doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I wish we could have moved on from Schoop, as well.
  4. so much consternation around a .217 BA, .633 OPS hitter. Where is the outrage over losing the Castro Bros? Victor Reyes?
  5. Great thread idea. I’ll get it started.
  6. are you really willing to fall on your sword for Candelario? You might want to go back and look at last year's offensive and defensive contributions and revisit your position. I appreciate that Harris is looking to improve there, even though it's a pretty low bar.
  7. Player’s market? That does not bode well for us and explains why Matty received $10M. That contract might be a bargain.
  8. A lot of offseason left. They were forced to make the call on Candy when they did. I’m fairly confident someone will be brought in prior to Spring Training.
  9. I suspect we offered something close to that. It is possible that he wanted a fresh start somewhere else.
  10. This is going to be a very long winter if we have to keep revisiting Miggy's presence on next year's roster. It's happening, no matter how much grousing takes place.
  11. I think everyone, including Team Miggy, would be OK with an injury that cuts significantly into his playing time. I just want the Tigers to provide the guy with the opportunity to leave on his own terms.
  12. here, here! I'm also part of Team Miggy, for the reasons you list. F the haters!
  13. Does Tork = Laga in your example? Asking for a friend.
  14. Not at all—I think his milestone chase did positively impact attendance (I personally made it to his 3000th hit—one of only two games I went to). However, once that was over, his presence likely had very little impact on attendance. And I suspect he’ll have none in 2023, except for his retirement ceremony.
  15. Without knowing how much he received, that looks like a good fit.
  16. It’s a good plan. He might even get injured during the World Games prior to the season.
  17. I guess I’m not arguing that some might have thought that early last season as milestones were being chased. I seriously doubt anyone now believes that—and if they do, their forum access should be immediately suspended, along with public shaming and a good flogging.
  18. No one really believes that. There is zero reason to find anything positive in him being part of next year’s roster, except for his retirement celebration. It’s a sad end to a first ballot HOF career.
  19. I think I am stupider reading the last 30-40 posts. And I don’t have any IQ points to spare. I know this is a forum to speculate, but I find it interesting that there is so much conviction and confidence while commenting on a situation that no one really knows anything about. We don’t even have an offseason to evaluate how the new front office is going to approach building a roster.
  20. This forum is in desperate need of a Tigers transaction—any type will do.
  21. Sign Lamar Jackson, draft two studs for our defense with our first rounders and address TE and RB in rounds 2-4. And then start printing playoff tix.
  22. The first prospect is Junk
  23. Then why did we sign Bligh Madris, LH hitting OF, after cutting Reyes?
  24. Somebody’s “hangry”
