  1. If he doesn’t yield anything of worth in return, you keep him. We need as many innings we can get out of him, in the event of more injuries or innings limits to our young guys.
  2. My point is that we’re under no obligation to make a trade. Moving a young pitcher like Soto for another young pitcher, unless it’s a big upgrade, doesn’t make sense. I also believe we have a lot of good young pitching knocking on the door, so yes, I’d prefer we fill one of the 7 lineup spots next to Tork and Greene that are currently mostly a black hole.
  3. Or don’t make a trade.
  4. Seems odd that a pitcher playing for an independent team would still be draft eligible vs just being a free agent
  5. This is awesome
  6. perhaps, but I'd rather pool out tradable assets for the best position player we can get (that makes sense for our roster). if we're getting more pitching in return, I'd just assume hold on to Soto, who we control for a few more seasons.
  7. really hope we focus on getting a bat in return, if we move any of our relievers.
  8. I think I've posted this before on the old board, but Manfred has a bit of Frank Burns from MASH in him. I'll bet he got hazed big time in college.
  9. looks like an asshole. But he's our little asshole now.
  10. If the Dodgers have true interest in Juan Soto, they won’t use any good prospect capital to get Gregory.
  11. I think we’re a bit limited in what we can do. The AS break has sometimes served as a line of demarcation, where players who had a bad first half, turn it on in the second (and vice versa). I think we’re better off giving Schoop, Grossman, Candy and Barnhart a month to see if the break helped them. By that time, Rogers might be ready to come back. Kreidler could be an option at 3B if he can get some reps in Toledo. Could also bring back Cameron or Hill, too.
  12. Cubs just cut Norris this past week—never understood why he wasn’t better.
  13. Cubs got Nick Madrigal for Craig Kimbrel. Of course, that hasn’t worked out for either team (yet).
  14. Dude traded for Brad Ausmus seven different times.
  15. If Avisail Garcia would have kept it in his pants, Miggy would have finished with a top 10 of all-time career easily.
  16. Perhaps they are hoping to save enough with all of these college kids that they can do an over slot with a HS player tomorrow?
  17. Couldn’t find much on Michael, except that he’s 24 and gives up dingers. Any special pitches?
  18. maybe not considered late round, but both Brant Hurter (7th round) and RJ Petit (14th round) have both pitched very impressively at High A.
  19. Jake Miller, LHP, Valparaiso in the 8th round.
  20. yep. but I think we'd agree that his performance is unusual for someone drafted in that round. plus, one of our resident prospect experts already said he's just an organizational guy.
  21. would they do that with the high pick, college position players? I know they coddle the pitchers and high schoolers, but don't recall what happened last year.
