  1. I would prefer we avoid Bregman. Slowing down.
  2. Wonder if the Indians made an attempt to keep him? Frankie Montas, with his 4.84 ERA, received two years/$34M from the Mets.
  3. Seems silly, but it’s a 1 of 1. The Skenes card has received a ton of attention because the Pirates are offering a huge bounty to whoever finds it. His famous girlfriend, Libby Dunne, sweetened the offer by saying she’d also throw in an invite to watch the game with her from her suite. A few other rookies have also offered to buy their card from whoever finds it, turning these into a bit of a Wonka Golden ticket.
  4. Keep hitting refresh.
  5. Except that Buffalo is likely to see some a bunch of 2nd stringers, depending on how quickly some guys can come back, as well as if Alex or Hutch could be ready by SB.
  6. Baseball salaries are getting increasingly out of control. Tommy Edman was just rewarded with a 5 yr/$74M deal on the heels of his 0.9 WAR last season.
  7. With our payroll, I think Small Business Saturday is more likely.
  8. I’d love to have Bellinger if the Cubs are excited about a reunion with El Mago. Otherwise, hard pass.
  9. We might be close to getting Juan Soto. Saw it on the internet.
  10. Technically, it was the second time around with Norris, so Olson’s acquisition is unrelated to the original Price trade with the Jays. EDIT: I was wrong. Please pretend like this never happened. Like you should with most of my posts.
  11. Don’t forget the Poutine
  12. Blake Snell to the Dodgers. Not sure of terms. Probably makes Flaherty less likely.
  13. It was the right move at the time. Same as Smoltz for Alexander. Some times you get burned trading prospects, but the majority of the time the team that gets the proven talent wins out.
  14. I saw that as encouraging. Not many years at a reasonable annual rate.
  15. Major leaguers used to look like guys in your Account Receivables department.
  16. In what world does McKinstry get paid more than Ibanez?
  17. Tigers select LHP Bailey Horn from the Red Sox. 5th rounder by the White Sox in 2019. Reliever who played briefly in MLB last season.
  18. They should just bail. That community doesn’t deserve a MLB team—they have plenty of minor league options in the area if they want to see a professional game. Hello, Nashville!
  19. Not a lot, but I thought he would have been pinched next year with Wenceel, Sweeney/Baez, Vierling and Ibanez already with bench spots, before making any offseason additions. Again, the amount doesn’t necessarily commit them to carrying him next season.
  20. No mention yet of the Tigers signing Jahmai Jones to a minor league deal today? Seems like nice insurance in Toledo. Good AAA numbers, bats RH, maybe they can help him.
  21. I think he can still remain in the organization.
  22. The Indians were projected to either win the Central or close. All Vogt did was not screw that up. After Hinch, I would have picked the KC manager over Vogt.
  23. Strongly disagree. Hinch got this team to a playoff series win with about 10 rookies on the team and one legitimate starter for a good chunk of the season. At one point in the season, our entire OF was on the DL. And we sold at the trade deadline. Cleveland had superior talent and established players. I think Vogt got it as a new manager, and Hinch might still be paying a penalty for his suspension. Objectively, Hinch’s performance was better. For the first time in my 50 years following the Tigers I can honestly say that the manager played a significant role in the actual outcome of games on a consistent basis. Sparky and Leyland were great at what they did, but they also had stacked teams.
